DEVELOPMENT ISSUE #3,354 - 777-200 - Brakes lock up
Reported by Dave Steele (DVA9108) on 01/23/2011 13:25 ET
Assigned To Luke Kolin (DVA043)
Issue Status Worked Around on 11/20/2012 17:13 ET
Issue Priority Medium
Security Public
Area Fleet Library
Issue Type Bug
Target Version 2.2
Issue Description Every time I land, the brakes lock up. Even on a very smooth landing. I set the Autobrake on final, land, come to a stop and disarm them. The are still holding on. I can't get them to release.

I have the same problem... you can remove by setting parking brake and release but you no longer have any breaks.

Thomas - I know its very frustrating. The only way I have found to correct the issue at all is to end the flight and restart at the same airport. I can't even restart from a saved file, because the problem still exists.

It seems so petty, but resetting FSX every single time I land the 777 gets so old. I think I am more frustrated that I took so much time to pass the test to fly the 777 and the fleet version doesn't work right... to boot, there are no decent payware versions out there for FSX that are any good... (I have Wilco and it's absolutely terrible)

I am still watching this thread, but I haven't really gotten any response or feedback on the problem.

If you find out anything, please let me know.

Dave

I have the B777 from WILCO too... flew it for 3 hours and that was the biggest waste of $35! when you show the upper console do you see all of the upper console or just the eng starter. It used to have the whole upper panel but when they redid it got erased and started having brake problems.

Thomas... You are right. I have never been more disappointed in an aircraft purchase than the Wilco 777. It's truly a shame that they even put the product out there.

I wish that someone would release a good working 777.

There is a good 777-200 complete package at http://www.freeskyproject.com/files/file/708-delta-airlines-boeing-777-232lr-n704dk-complete-package/

I just did a test flight, using autobrake 2. While they do disengage, they remain at brakes 8 which is very slightly holding on. I'll see if that's my pedals or the gauge.

Just came across this feed. I have the same problem. I need brakes taxiing in to the gate, so I just quit using the autobrakes...

This would have been solved a lot easier if I had discovered that the panel wasn't actually using the POSKY autobrake gauge. facepalm

This is the relevant gauge:

-<Element id="brake source"><FloatPosition>490.000,72.000</FloatPosition><Visibility> (A:BRAKE LEFT POSITION,Percent) int != 0 (A:BRAKE RIGHT POSITION,Percent) int != 0 or (A:SIM ON GROUND, bool) and </Visibility>-<GaugeText id="Elevator Trim"><Bright>True</Bright><Bold>True</Bold><FontFace>Arial</FontFace><FontColor>0x50E0E0</FontColor><FontHeight>30</FontHeight><GaugeString>%((A:BRAKE LEFT POSITION, Percent))%!d! BRAKE %((A:BRAKE RIGHT POSITION,Percent))%!d!</GaugeString><HorizontalAlign>CENTER</HorizontalAlign><Size>360,30</Size><Transparent>True</Transparent></GaugeText></Element>

It appears that brake left/right is being set to 9/10% on manual brake application and release. Why?

Remove autobrake and see if it makes a difference. Unpack the CABs and grep the XMLs to see what you can find.

This can be resolved by increasing the brake sensitivity to MAX in FSX.
