Issue Description |
There seems to be an issue with the Garuda Indonesia flights. On two occasions, I found, booked and flew the following legs which are in the schedule but disagree with ACARS. also, there is an issue with airport WITB. The ICAO code should be WITN. The Garuda flight GA7112 leg 1 shows on the schedule and can be booked into the logbook, but ACARS does not recognize the flight and will not allow the flight from WIMM-WITB to even be started. See screen prints and pireps for a visual explanation. I believe there are several issues with these Indonesia legs.

Why is Batam in the schedule twice, with one entry having an invalid IATA code? |

On a side note, the AFV schedule seems completely broken for the last six months. Why are there 15,000+ flights that are marked as unpurgeable? That's going to make the import fail every day. |

There are many duplicate airports for our airports in Indonesia as the codes have been changed 2-3 times in real world and no one updated them in DB at the time. People, including myself, kept creating new profiles for the new codes without realising. We also have Garuda, Garuda Historical and KLM historical flights, some of them to the same airport however that presents itself under 2 codes.... Same issue with Batam that you mentioned.. I tried to unify and update some airports and get rid of some duplicates, however that Batam with the invalid code cannot be deleted - I invalidated the code on purpose such that ACARS doesn't pick it when you land a the operational Batam.
Long story short:
1) can we somehow sort all airport from DB by country and then look for duplicates?
2) why cannot I delete the profile of an airport which is not operational and in fact, a duplicate? |

Those flights have been set unpurgeable for a long time, even before I took over the OPS dept, because there had been issues when the DB was purged by mistake and we lost all schedules. |

There's no easy way that I'm aware of to do either. You cannot delete airports that have had at least one flight flown to them; going forward I will need to manually tweak the database to shift the codes if necessary.
I'm afraid this will likely need to be a manual process over a few weeks. Identify the duplicates (you can sort them by name, which should help) and let me know what codes are dupes.
Once you have the airports correct we'll need to fix the schedule so it continues to import. |

SB - do we have an update from OPS on when this will be complete? - the Dupes Identification that is? |

I'll look into it tomorrow. Apologies, somehow I missed Luke's message - I was away at that time in Feb and completely forgot about it. |

Luke, is there any way in which you can download the airport database as a cvs file - showing both the IATA and ICAO codes? that would simply things, if not, I've got an idea but it is much more tedious and complicated. |

I can do that this weekend. |

I had a look crosschecking schedules
This are the duplicates I found - I marked them with invalid IATA codes and they have no airline operating there

Could you please delete them? I would still like to have the full list of airports as a file, just for future reference. |

Apologies that this has taken so long. I will delete the three airports.
Build 622 (on the dev site) has an EXPORT link from the airport list for future use. |

One other thing - I cannot delete the airports because there are logged flights in and out of them. What airports shall I update the logged flights to use? I just need a 1:1 mapping for each airport. |

I'll have Silvian get in touch with Ops to get this remedied for you. Apologies for the delay. |

please replace
WIKB to WIDD: Batam to Batam-Hang Nadim Indonesia
WIAA to WITB: Sabang to Sabang-Maimun Saleh Indonesia
WIKD to WIOD: Tanjung Pandang Indonesia to Tanjung Pandan Indonesia
After that you can delete WIKB, WIAA, WIKD
Thanks,
Silvian |
