Ladies and gentlemen and virtual pilots of all ages, we have an announcement:
The. Wait. Is. Over.
The DVA Events team is extremely excited to announce that our long-awaited Tour program will launch TOMORROW as the latest major feature addition to DVA, further setting our community apart from other virtual airlines in the unique experiences we offer to our pilots.
Our team has worked tirelessly for over a year to plan and develop the newest addition to our Events program, and we hope you'll enjoy flying the tours as much as we've enjoyed bringing them to life for everyone.
Maybe you're asking: What's so great? Well, for starters:
-You'll meet new friends. If you're flying in a tour, reach out on ACARS or post about it in the cooler. Share your screenshots. Who knows, you might find someone else who happens to be on the same leg as you who would LOVE to fly with you. I know I would fly with you!
-You'll tour the world. That's why we fly, isn't it? To travel, explore, and discover new places and scenery. If you wanted to get a sim-selfie with the pyramids, this is your opportunity for greatness. There's a whole world out there, simulated or not. Go get it!
-An awesome sense of accomplishment when you complete a tour that you spent weeks, or months, working on! Oh, and a chance to see your name posted on the tour page for everyone to see. You could be famous. Imagine the possibilities!
-Guaranteed adventure, laughter, community, and fun, or your money back*
-Being in the most awesome group of DVA pilots (The group that has completed the Tours!)
-Last but not least: Getting to brag to your friends that you are in the best virtual airline, because you have Tours. They'll think you're awesome. They also might come join you.
*Not liable for reimbursements for the cost of your shiny new FS2020 gaming rig. Sorry.
There you have it. All the reason you need to get started on your tours as soon as they launch TOMORROW.
Now that I have your attention, here's what you need to do:
Go read the Pilots Guide to Tours found at this link (it's short!): https://www.deltava.org/library/dva%20pilot%20guide%20to%20tours.pdf
It is really important that you look at the guide so you know exactly what to do to make sure your PIREP gets tour credit!
Next, check out the available Tours on the Tours home page. We're launching with 2, and we'll have more to come in the Spring!
You can find the Tours home page by clicking on the "Flight Tours" link under the "Pilot Lounge" on our main menu. You might have to navigate to the pilot center to see it. We'll be working on publishing tours throughout the day today, so if you don't see them the first time, come back and check later.
It's that simple.
One more thing: While our staff team has put countless hours into designing and testing an all new system for Tours, nothing is ever perfect, and we would greatly appreciate your patience and understanding while we work out any remaining kinks over the next few months.
If you have general questions/comments/suggestions for Tours, email us at events@deltava.org
If you have issues with your PIREP or the system isn't working right for you, open a help desk ticket here: https://www.deltava.org/helpdesk.do
Whew. Enough of my talking. Let's get flying! I'll see you up there.

Just one question, do you have to fly the designated aircraft that is listed in each leg of the tour? For example in Xplane 11 one may not have all the aircrafts that is in the tour.

Hi Miklos, you can fly any aircraft for which you are rated and can safely make the trip. There may be particular tours that are restricted to certain types of aircraft, but that will be noted in the tour's documentation. For example, the Caribbean Tour can be flown with any aircraft, and that is noted in the Tour Briefing on page 3. Look forward to seeing you in the skies!

Hi everyone!
TODAY IS THE DAY!!! It's like Christmas all over. I see many of you already hitting the airways enroute to JAX or BOS.
Just a quick note that there are some flights within a Tour that are not normally in our schedule. They use flight numbers beginning with DL95XX. You won't see them if you search the schedule via ACARS or the website (and likewise cannot create a draft PIREP), but they willl work if you type the info into ACARS by hand. If an airport doesn't show up as a possible departure/arrival field in ACARS, try running a .update command in ACARS and restart.
For these legs, ignore the automated message from ACARS warning that the flight is out of schedule and start the flight anyways. You should get another message saying the flight is part of a tour and has provisional approval. If you do not see this, double check that the flight/leg number and airline selected are correct for the tour.
Have fun today!!

I just want to say, Daniel Wilbanks, and the entire Events team to include, Jay Marin, Nathan Cox, Kevin Hornaday, and previous events member Del Herwat, have all worked extremely hard this last year or so to bring us Tours to DVA. The amount of hours and work they put into this is amazing. They definitely deserve a HUGE thank you.
This feels like Christmas all over again. I have to agree with that. I am glad to see everyone of you excited for this new exciting feature that Daniel and his team have introduced to DVA.
Thank you Daniel, Jay, Nathan, Kevin, and Del for your all’s hard work, hours you spent on this project, and the fun it will bring to DVA for many many years to come.
Best regards,
Joe
