Hello everyone! As I'm working to figure out content for our December edition of Delta Virtual FLY I figured I would come back to the community that offered such great responses last year when I asked about your experiences over 40 years of flight sim, this time I'm asking: What's your favorite route to fly? Of course I'd like a bit more info than just your departure and destination so please response with the following:
- Dep. Airport - Arr. Airport:
- Flight Number in DVA (if applicable):
- Preferred Aircraft for the Flight:
- Why is this your favorite?
Reasons for this being your favorite could be it has interesting departure and approach procedures, could be scenery, or it could be some sort of emotional connection to the route (I could easily pick BOS to AMS because I flew it SO often). Also if you have any screenshots of flying the route that would be great for FLY!
In any case, have fun with it, I look forward to seeing the responses and putting them into FLY.

Hey Alex,
I supposed I will start. I have many airports that I absolutely love flying into on Prepar3D. I own practically most of the real world Delta's Hubs and a lot of United States Airports, and quite a few European Airports from many name brand developers in the flight sim community. As many probably know I am originally from Virginia and my old hometown airport was Roanoke-Blacksburg Regional Airport for which I called my old hometown airport for many years. My first flight with DVA back in 2015 was Roanoke to Atlanta (DL5540 IIRC) KROA-KATL. These two departing and arrival airports will forever hold a special place for me. The beautiful green mountains as you are departing out of Roanoke Valley flying South to Atlanta will always be special to me. I first flew this route in the DVA Fleet CRJ-200 (I recall it got held too, overran the runway on takeoff, too much fuel) It is my one of my favorites as I used to fly that route in the real world many times when traveling with family or myself.
My second favorite departing and arriving airports as of late is Salt Lake City to Bozeman Montana, KSLC-KBZN. I have flown a few flight numbers and can't recall them right now. However since moving to Utah six years ago and calling Salt Lake City my new hometown airport, is pretty awesome. The reason this is my favorite is that for starters it's a short flight wheels up to wheels down, (less than 1 hour on a good day) plus the beautiful mountains in Utah and Montana always intrigued me. While I haven't visited Montana or Bozeman in real lift (one day I will) I love admiring the scenery. My preferred aircraft for the flight is either the FSLabs A319 or A320. I have been flying a ton of FSLabs lately, Thanks to VP Chris Frasure for the motivation to give FSLabs another try after upgrading my flight sim computer.
My third favorite departing and arriving airports is Atlanta to London Heathrow KATL-EGLL. While I have never been to London England (One day I'll get there) this is my favorite as I first flew the Vatsim event Cross the Pond and was lucky enough to get this route pairing. I flew the TDS A350-900 and I love flying that aircraft over the Atlantic Ocean. This will hold a special place as I first flew Cross the Pond and enjoyed every minute of the 10 or so hours I was online.
Best regards,

Anything with interesting departures or charted visual approaches, especially if they're fun to hand fly. For example, I like flying KLAX-KLAS using the LOOP4 departure. Another one is anything to KDCA using the RWY 19 River Visual. KPHL also has some great visual approaches.

Hmm. I have a few and they're challenging which makes them more enjoyable and rewarding:
DL5716 Leg 1 (currently)
KLGA to KDCA
Any aircraft but 727 preferred.
River Visual Approach is a lot of fun to hand fly. Very challenging approach and the security zone always gives you more to worry about.
PAH9408 Leg 1
KMIA to MHTG
Any aircraft
Again, a very challenging visual approach and all the more fun, especially before the runway extension. Also, flying 2 hours and then having a challenging approach makes it all the more interesting. Strangely I have only flown this flight once or twice but its definitely on my list.
DVH608 Leg 2
KCLT TO KLGA
Love flights to LGA. Very crowded airspace, STAR's with lots of steps down, and the Manhattan skyline on approach no matter which final you're on it fun to see.
Park Visual 31 is a joy to fly

I'm with Drew. The river visual to DCA is #1. I also like the approaches into Palm Springs.

The Palm Springs visual app is beautiful.
JFK-SFO or EWR-SFO always holds a special place in my heart and I just love the approach into SFO, and SFO as an airport - I think it is so cool.
I love JFK-MKJS DAL1955; love the MKJS Airport
The river visual into DCA is always fun
the 13L Visual (parkway is it?) into JFK is awesome.

ATL-BHM when BHM is VFR and landing east.
Reasons:
1. I used to live there.
2. It's short and yet challenging, especially in FS2Crew. Only 28 minutes of flight time.
3. Doing the "65 Visual Approahc" (not an official approach) With all of the scenery addons that I have for the area, you see the entire Birmingham area to your right, with Red Mountain, while you are on downwind. It's challenging because there are TV and radio towers on Red Mountain, which you have to transitiion between, but be low enough to be below 2100 to turn onto final. Basically you follow Interstate 65 or pass over Elmwood.
4. If BHM is landing west, I fly over Trussville, where I bought airline magaizines before I moved to Georgia. Oh, and I fly over Roebuck on final, where i ate lunch and planespotted after buying said airline magazines. So many memories of planespotting and watching the air traffic coming in on Runway 24.
Interesting note, back in September, went with friends to see one of my supervisor's friends' kids play football for Hewitt Trussville. The supervisor joked "No planespotting in the stadium!"
The one thing that I was looking forward to when FS2020 came out was an accurate downtown Birmingham. The video linked below shows local Birmingham weatherman J.P. Dice reviewing the Birmingham scenery right after FS2020 came out. That was before we had TV tower and high res downtown Birmingham scenery for FS2020.
