Delta Virtual Airlines FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
QUESTION
Flying Trans Atlantic NAT Tracks & Charts Do you have a manual that tells us what squawk we use and the procedures to perform when flying into European countries? And do you know where I can go get International European charts?
There is a section in the Flight Encyclopedia that deals with flying the NAT - a little bit on Europe. I'll assign this to someone who is more familiar with European and international operations
What do I do in the Private Pilot (PPL) course? This FAQ lists commonly asked questions about the Flight Academy PPL course.
Do I just take an exam and an ACARS checkride like you do for normal ratings?

No. There is an exam and an ACARS checkride but the idea is to fly with an instructor in real time with voice communications, learning how to fly like real world pilots do. Expect several flight lessons with the CFI, teaching you how to fly the airplane, navigate and communicate with ATC.
ACARS help Could you guys please tell me what ACARS is and how do install and use it? Thanks!
Brendan. ACARS (Aircraft Communication and Reporting System) is a DVA exclusive. You start this program which can be found in the Fleet Library, just before you start your flight. It will track your program and at the end, file your flight report for you. There is also a communication (text) tool where you can talk to other DVA pilots, but please keep the conversation DVA or Aviation related. Mainly it is there if you need help or advise others of weather, arrival information...etc. There is a manual in the download, advise you read it.
ACARS Help Hi, I am a new member and I have been trying to use ACARS for a flight but I keep getting the same error message. I have read and am following all directions i have found online. The message reads "Maybe running on WideCleint, but FS not running on server, or wrong FSUIP" That message is then followed by "Microsfot Flight Simulator is not ready to fly, please start flight simulator and load your aircrft." When I get this message, flight simulator is running but minimized. I use windows Vista and FSX. Do you have any suggestions on how I can fix this problem? Thanks
Please enusre that FSUIPC is loaded properly. Try the installer at http://www.schiratti.com/dowson.html
Which DVA Aircraft are FSX Compatible? Which DVA Aircraft fleet installers will work with FSX?
You can download them via the pilot center, fleet library. When you pull up the aircraft model you wish to download, it will give a description and if it is FSX compatible, it will say so.

FSX is not compatible with many older gauges so the issue is creating new gauges to work in FSX and this takes some time.

Currently the 737NG, 757 and 767 are FSX Compatible and more are in the process of being updated soon.
ACARS error issues Yesterday there were no issues, but now I get multiple errors. Removed ACARS fully, and reinstalled ACARS, but same issue occurs. I have made screenshots of the error messages. Is there a way to send them?
Hi Marco,

I’m sorry that you’re having trouble installing and running our ACARS program.

So attached are some troubleshooting steps for you.

Here is a quick procedure for installing/troubleshooting the ACARS program.

To install the ACARS software (you must be logged in as the administrator)

1. Turn off all antivirus and antispyware software on your system.
2. Uninstall ACARS from your control panel "Add/Remove Software" if you unsuccessfully tried to install it.
3. Download and run the Registry Fixer (as an Administrator) from our Fleet Library to restore your registry pointers to Microsoft Flight Sim.
4. If you are using X-Plane and the Registry Fixer did not work. Look Here http://forums.x-plane.org/index.php?/forums/topic/108539-error-code-126-the-specified-module-could-not-be-found-how-to-fix/
5. Reboot your computer and again, turn off all antivirus and antispyware software on your system.
6. Download the new ACARS from the Fleet Library and run the install ( as an Administrator).
7. Now you can re-enable your antivirus and antispyware software on your system.
8. Turn off Microsoft One Drive.
Also, please turn off all software you have running before you go flying (this includes Skype, MS messenger, antivirus, anti-malware, video camera software, etc as they might interfere with your flying software and ACARS

If you still encounter problems, please give the following a try as well:

1. Create a separate folder on the C:\ drive for flight simulator programs like C:\FSX or something like that and install FSX, ACARS, vPilot, etc in that folder.
2. Make sure that all antivirus, antimalware, etc is disabled before downloading or installing any new flying software.
3. Check and make sure that Windows Firewall passes data thru for FSX, FS2004, ACARS, vPilot, Ivap (IVAO client), etc.

Let me know if the above steps work or not.

Multiplayer I am new to Flight simulation, and I was just wondering how to join a session in multiplayer.
Brendan,
Are you trying to fly with a friend or are you trying to fly on VATSIM with live ATC?

The answers are quite different and I need to know what you are trying to do here.

Thanks,
Jim Warner CFI
How Do I Set CRJ, MD-88, B757 Transponder to Normal "C" I just downloaded the DVA Fleet CRJ, MD-88 and the B757. When ATC asks me to Squawk Normal or "Charlie," I cannot find the transponder panel.
For CRJ, right click transponder knob and move to RA/TA.

For MD-88 and B757, the transponder panels are hidden. Go to http://www.deltava.org/thread.do?id=0xBA73 for a graphic that shows you where the panels for the transponder can be found.
Getting Started i am completely new to Delta Virtual Airlines, and I have no Idea how to start flying. N.B. I am not new to virtual ailine flying, nor the VATSIM network. Please assist, Thank you!
You can fly either offline (not connected to any internet multiplayer session) or online (connected with either VATSIM or IVAO online multiplayer sessions). VATSIM seems to be the most popular online community in North America and IVAO seems to be the most popular online community in Europe. Most of us flying Delta routes in the US use the VATSIM system as there is more traffic and also more live ATC controllers. To fly on VATSIM with FS2004, you can use Squawkbox or FSINN to connect to the system. To fly on VATSIM with FSX, you can use FSINN to connect to the system. ACARS is the DeltaVA software that records your flight and provides many other features such as online access to flight schedules, online access to charts, real time chat between DeltaVA online pilots, automatic recording and filing of flight reports, etc. ACARS is available in the Fleet Library for download. Also, read the Online Flying Manual in the Document Library.

If you are using FS2004, the Squawkbox3 software you use for flying on VATSIM is in the Online Flying Kit which can be downloaded from the DVA fleet library and then installed. Make sure that you go to the VATSIM site ( http://www.vatsim.net/ ) and register to get your VATSIM ID. Put that VATSIM ID in your DELTAVA profile. The Squawkbox3 (SB3) module that connects you to VATSIM is found on your FS2004 menu under "Modules", "Squawkbox". Start up your system in the following manner:

1. Start up FS2004 and load in the airplane and the flightplan (in Flight Planner).
2. Start up ACARS, connect with your DVA number and password, and "OPEN" your saved flightplan.
3. Search within ACARS flight schedules to select the actual flight you wish to fly and click on it.
4. Review the ACARS flight plan to assure that your airports are correct, your waypoints are correct, your equipment is the correct, your altitude for the flight is correct, and that you are flying either "offline" or online via "VATSIM"
5. When your parking brake is set (CTRL ".") at the gate, start your ACARS flight.
6. Go back to your FS2004 and taxi to the runway after ATC clearance if available.
7. Before takeoff, be sure to go to SB3 and announce your intentions on UNICOM 122.80 by typing in the box on SB3 if flying from an uncontrolled field. Click on the SB3 Start button, click on Transponder, select Mode C.
8. Contact ATC for takeoff clearance, if available, then takeoff and fly your flight.
9. After landing, exit the active runway, then click on the SB3 Start button, click on Transponder, select Standby then taxi to the gate.
10. Set your parking brake at the gate.
11. Go to ACARS and press "End Flight" button. Press YES to file this flight report. Your flight will be automatically entered in your DVA logbook.

You are done.

For FSX, the process is similar except that you will have to use FSINN to connect to the online multiplayer session of VATSIM.
Support for FSX Will DVA be upgraded to support FSX ?
We are currently looking at upgrading our fleet to support Microsoft Flight Simulator X. There are numerous compatability issues with most of the freeware panels in our current Fleet Library, and we expect the first FSX-compatible installers to start trickling in some time in 2007.

In the meantime, you are welcome to use whatever FSX-compatible aircraft you wish, that are downloaded from external sites such as AVSIM or FlightSim.com.
Acars upgrade Where can I find the most recent ACARS update. I am getting an error every time I tried to loggin into the system Obsolite ACARS pilot client - Use Build 146 or newer.
Good evening Ralph,

So to update ACARS, you’ll have to go to pilot center and click on fleet library, then scroll down until you see ACARS. If you’re using fsx or P3Dv4 I would recommend using the latest ACARS client 3.4 build 146.

Let me know if that helps.

Mac Compatability When I try to download airplanes from the fleet library, the files are only MS-DOS executable, and I'm unable to run them. Is than any way I can download the planes and they will work with Mac?
Hi Jay,

Right now our software isn't compatible with the Mac platform. If you're using an Intel mac and have the resources you can dual boot both Windows XP and OS X using Apple's bootcamp. You can then install Flight Simulator on the XP partition and run it that way.
Flying on line I have been trying to fly on line how do I accomplish this task
Dean: 1. Check out the Online Flying Manual.
http://www.deltava.org/library/Online%20Flying%20Manual.pdf

2. Download and install the Online Flying Kit from the DVA Fleet Library. It has everything needed to fly online including Squawkbox and ServInfo 2.02
http://www.deltava.org/fleetlibrary.do

3. Check out VATSIM. Click on where it says "New Pilots Start Here" It will take you through the registration process to get your online ID and password to log into Vatsim.
http://www.vatsim.net/

4. Start up Flight Simulator, set up your flight (aircraft and flight plan), always start from a gate and never from the active runway when flying online. Once flight sim has started click on Modules----> Squawkbox. When squawkbox starts up, it will give you a little Squawkbox window, click on start---->connect, fill in the connection and pilot information (this is where your Vatsim ID# and password go), then hit connect at the bottom. Once it connects the little SB window will have a split screen. Any live ATC in your range will be listed on the right side with their contact frquency.

Any questions, just leave another comment here and I will assist further. Also if you are not sure about how to talk to ATC online I can try to set up some time to guide you through the steps.
