After using FSX for a couple of weeks these a few of the problems I have observed:

(1) No Eyepoint Movement Up/Down while in flight using the documented Shift + Enter/Backspace cmds. Works OK on 2-D view while on RW
or in Virtual Cockpit in flight.

(2) Cockpit 2-D Panel Options: (no Approach View IAW Views And Windows Documentation cmd ("W")

(3) Overcast Weather settings not accurate. Visibility does not clear at 1500 ft when ceiling set at 1600 - 2000 ft

(4) Small windows do not appear in same display as saved after reset using dual displays.

The scenery is great but the inability to set the eyepoint shift is the most troubling to me as it prevents you from seeing the runway while landing. I understand this is a new program and we can hope to see improvements. Has anyone esle experienced these problems?

Overall the weather features in FSX appears to need additional work and I have notified the MS development team of all of my initial 5 issues. Since my initial posting I have discovered the lack of 2-D cockpit eyepoint movement occurs only in flight. It seems to work fine on the runway and in virtual cockpit view both on the ground and in flight.

MS now reports they have duplicated the lack of 2-D cockpit eyepoint movement but haven't head back from them on the other issues. BTW, you email technical issues directly to the Microsoft Development team at <tell_fs@microsoft.com>.

On the jetways, make sure the animation box is checked, I'm sorry I cannot remember where it is at, I think it is in the general display box on FX. I had the same problem and when I checked the animation box they worked.

George - I do - and it works fine.

On another note, I put a post up a week or so ago about the VUZIK:
http://www.deltava.org/thread.do?id=0xf71e

I sent them some information and requested some, and they have sent me (very generously) one of the VR920...and for the money - it is absolutely mind blowing.

I thought flying around with TrackIR in FS9 and FSX was good...this completely blows it out of the water. AND it is compatible with FS9 despite a comment that it is not.

It also works with some other games like CRYSIS and COD4.

So if you have some cash lying around - I would recommend it.
--------
Mark - in FSX there is an ADVANCED animation settings bar....the higher the setting - the more animations you will see (more frame rate hit you will have) Setting this lower or back will prevent many of the special effects from working in the sim.

Sometimes it only works at certain gates with certain scenery and certain planes - you have to read all the "README" files that come with specific adds

And you'll need to define the exit coordinates in aircraft.cfg.

Yes, George, I use Track IR with FSX.

William, that is weird. I am able to move my eye point around?!? I also can use the "w" function while in 2D.

Christopher,

My posts were made in April and May of 2006. Since then, it is possiby Microsoft has correctied some of the early FSX problems with service packs or other modifications.

David, the jetway works with the fleet 757. I don't know if it will with any other fleet aircraft. When I get a chance I will try.

First thing, working jetways aren't at all airports in FSX. Second, to use the ones that do exist requires that the exits on the aircraft be defined in the aircraft.cfg file. Goggle "FSX jetway contact point" and you'll be able to find tutorials on how this is done.
