Ok gents, I have a new system with a BFG Tech Nvidia GeForce 8800Gt 512 card, and I tweaked the settings right out on everything including the Anti Aliasing. Im still seeing a ton of jagged edges, and I cant figure out why. This happens particularly with the PMDG 738. if anyone has any pointers or would like to offer their assistance please let me know. Thanks in advance.

Josh, I have a 7900gt and had the exact same problem when I updated to the newest nvidia drivers. The only way I was able to smooth the edges in FS was to turn AA on in FS, but I ended up rolling back my drivers to the ones I was previously using then I was able to enable AA through the nvidia menus. I would be willing to bet that you may very well be having the same problem. Try searching nvidias site for some earlier drivers.

Joshua, do you have the latest Nvidia drivers? If so, anti-aliasing is no longer part of the nvidia control panel and you can do all of this by downloading and installing nHancer. It takes a little bit of working and tweaking with it to get optimal and preferred settings. Hope this helps.

Sid, Do I have to be out of FS9 for this to work? I reset everything and I see no improvement at all...

If I recall correctly, you'll need to clone the FS9 profile in nHancer (which disables the original). You then need to turn OFF "Enhance in-game AA settings", or thereabouts. I think the nHancer 2.4 beta allows one to get around the profile cloning step.

Cheers!

Joshua, I don't remember if you have to restart flightsim for settings to change. I have replaced my nVidia 7300 with ATI 2600 HD, so I no longer have nHancer. Maybe someone who does can help out more with the tweaking. Good luck.

Looks like Master Luke has already jumped in to help smile

That's not what I mean. You need to duplicate/clone the existing profile with nHancer - the original profile disables AA in FS9 windowed mode.

Cheers!

Joshua, Yes you have to delete the profile that is in nhancer and create a new one. Follow the forums in the nhacer web page to a "T" and everything should work great. I know I spent weeks tweaking my settings and when I went to the nhancer forum and followed thier suggestions, it worked perfectly - no jaggies and it works windowed mode or full screen.

I am having issues also trying to get AA to work with the new nvidia drivers and the above link isn't too helpful because the with new version of nHancer you really can't change the settings (ex. untick the enhance AA option is grayed out) why couldn't nvidia have just left well enough alone.. they really screwed things up.

Those with 8### cards need to look at all the threads in that post. There are 5 pages. Toward the end is some additional material for newer drivers. I'm running my 7600 with the 173 drivers I think and with Nvidia, get great AA, after I did ALOT of tweaking. All being said, I am planning on building a new system, but I'll go back to ATI because of all this.

My settings are: Antialiasing Coverage Sampling at 16XQ, Gamma correction - Super, antisotropic filtering 16X, vertical sync - on, Texture filtering - High Quality, Trilinear - on, Negative load clamp - On, Load Bias - 250( I was getting alot of shimmering so I set this rather high). Like I said it does take alot of tweaking, but once you get it right, it is incredible. You do have to delete the original profile in Nhancer and create a new one. You may have to go into the control panel and let Nhancer override the Nvidia settings. Make sure you uncheck AA inside of Flight sim so that the Nhancer settings will take care of that. Hope this helps cause I know it drove me nuts for a couple of weeks. I didn't have the jaggies to bad, but what I had was the shimmering of buildings and such. Be patient and try different settings and I think you will be very happy in the end.

Joshua, I had the same issue and just downloaded the new beta drivers 174.74 and voila, now from the NVIDIA control panel, I set
all the settings for anti-aliasing and anisotropic and no more jaggies, even in windowed mode and full screen. I don't have to use
Nhancer anymore.I downloaded from guru3d.com

nhancer is a much better way to tweak your graphics. nvidia didnt screw up as some have said, rather it has put all the power in the hands of the user. you can tweak any setting you want without having to download 10 3rd party programs. the problem actually lies with the way flight sim handles aa and af, not with nvidia, or its drivers. anyways, sorry for the rant, but i love nvidia. i did the step by step on the nhancer forum and everything is working quite fine. so the rest of you should be ok too.

Kevin, I had use Nhancer before, but when the new driver was released, I installed them and just used the NVidia control panel, did the adjustments and all my jaggies are gone even in windowed mode, no more 3rd party software. Driver version is 174.74. My video card is a GeForce 7600 GS, PCI-express 512mb and no problems at all.

I'm using the Vista 64-bit (175.12) drivers for nVidia and the Anti-Aliasing and Ansiotropic filtering options are all available under the 3D-settings in the control panel. I have no need for nHancer.
