Good evening Chad,

You don't actually input a SD into RC4. The program executes a search of your flight plan for wave-point within 30 NM of the Departure airport. If it locates such a point, the ATC will instruct you to fly runway heading, then as filed, which basically allots your 30 miles to fly your SD without ATC interruptions. I suggest reviewing page 107 - 110 of your manual (I provided a brief exert below). I believe all your questions can be found there. BTW, I had the same question when I stared using RC4. However, it's the one addon I won't fly without!. Good luck and let me know if you have any more ?

Take a look at this exert from the RC4 manual:

RC sees filing your first checkpoint within 30 miles of the departure airport, as a DP. This form of DP will default to “Alt Restrictions” being checked (you have the option to change this, discussed below). You will notice, “No Dep Proc” is grayed out in the Dep Procedures column on the Controller Info. Leave default “Alt Restrictions”, or change to “No Altitude Restr” as needed. Forcing a DP

If your first checkpoint is further than 30 miles from your departure field, RC defaults to “No Dep Proc” being checked in the Dep Procedures column on the Controller Info. Radar Contact Radar Contact User Interface

Here you choose whether to check either “No Altitude Restr” or “Alt Restrictions”.
or This option allows you to file your first checkpoint outside 30 miles, but enables you to fly a necessary routing as long as you are within a 30 nm radius from the airport. That is perfect for those filing DPs, and intending to join an outbound radial.

Capt Chad,

I use fs Navigator to create my sids/stars as published by the FAA. Then I enter them into my flight plans as required. Save the flight to FS9/2004, then when you open RadarContact, you load the flight plan and RC4 will let you fly it as published. You will have to set the altitudes manually. Works great for me. It's a great program.

Take care, Clarke smile
