For a change of pace, I've begun flying the CRJ 200 out of KSLC. The flights are flown by Sky West using aircraft painted with the Delta livery. DVA shows the flight numbers as DVAxxxx-1, etc. In real-life, the flights are flown with the designation of SKW and callsign Sky West. Here's my question: To follow real-life, when flying on VATSIM, should I file as SKW and use Sky West as my callsign while showing dva.org in the comments section? Of course, I'd show the flight as Delta in ACARS. Thanks for the input.

You can use any call sign you want. But to answer your question it is OK to use the Sky West call sign on VATSIM and leave the DELTAVA.ORG in the comments. Advertising you know smile . In ACARS you would use the DVA flight # shown. Have a good flight.

Cheers wink

You can also use COM-Comair, or ASQ-for ASA(pronounced "asee" on the radio). Although this is the real life procedure I don't recommend it because, as David said, we are part of DVA and as a group should be recognized as such. (DAL)

Keep in mind if you're flying a group flight here you have to use DAL.

Mark and David,
Very good points. Not everything in this virtual world has to be "true to life" and so I'm gonna use the DAL callsign regardless. Thanks. smile

I use whatever callsign I like, regardless of the livery, aircraft and such. I often fly Aeroflot's callsign domestically in the US. But for group flights DAL should be utilized.
