If I requested additional ratings in the MD-88, would i stay in the 737 program, or would I only be in the MD-88 program?

As the name states, it's only "additional". You will remain in the 737 program until you request a program transfer.

I suggest you take a look at the PDFs in the Documents Library (in your Pilot Center), especially the Pilot Promotions Manual.

OK, I've read the .pdf and have successfully earned the 763 as an additional rating. What isn't clear in the .pdf is how can I continue to request additional ratings. I'm a left-seater in the 738 (Stage 1), an FO in the 736 (Stage 3) and want to end up with the 744 (Stage 4) as an additional rating. Currently, I can only request the 722 or 752 in the testing center. As both of those are Stage 3 types, do I have to fly x-number of flights in the 763 to then request the 744? That is where I get confused. I'm not interested in changing programs, just keen to try the big boys!

Cheers!!

In order to fly with the big boys you have to be a big boy... once you get your ratings though you can simply request to go back to the 737 program and you will be made a 737 captain again

Hey Ken,

The way I read the promotion manual is that you would need to transfer into the next stage program, fly 10 flights and take the captains exam. At that point you would be able to start working on the next stage up if you choose or add additional rating. Like Mike said, you can stop anytime you want and request a "downgrade" to a lower stage program and you'll keep all your ratings. Hope this helps answer your question.

@Mike - You're killing me.... "you have to be a big boy" LOL

Blue Skies,

-Dave
