Hello all,
I recently joined you guys and today flew my first ACARS flight online on Vatsim. The initial feeling is of professional and curtious welcome and atmosphere, the various pilot aids are very high quality- manuals, web site, staff responses to events and queries. This is a word of appreciation to all those who contribute voluntarily for our benefit, it is really awesome, thank you.
Understand that this channel is for web site ideas, so here is one. Would it be possible and worthwhile in your opinion to add gate assignments, those used by RW Delta at its major airports, possibly as an ACARS automatic Dispatch message, sent sometime during the descent.
Finally a question- can someone please point out a table of equipment Cost Indexes, for use in advanced models such as the one I fly.

This is a tempting idea - the problem is that I don't have a reliable (or even complete) source for DAL gate assignments.
Cheers!

I was thinking about this the other night...normally I just park at the closest gate, but to be more real I should go to a terminal where Delta would normally park (eg Terminal A-East in PHL). Putting that in ACARS is a nice thought (not so much a specific gate but a terminal), but the pilot would still need to know where that is, and the facilities diagrams normally are no help. So....there's not much to gain for the effort.

I agree with you Jack, it is very hard to be able to piece together enough information on where these gates would be. The best overall source I have seen believe it or not is Wikepedia. They give very descriptive terminal information and a lot of times maps of the terminals. I use that with a combination the delta website which tells a specific gate for a flight number.

How about this website for terminal info:
http://www.airportterminalmaps.com/
Doesn't have them all, but most of the majors are there.

Regarding the information required to provide the arrival gate for approaching flights, the Atlanta official site details the arrival gate for every arriving flight. I am not familiar with the relationship with Delta Airlines, but assume based on that, they could conceivably share that database, at least statically. That would save preparation time and avoid security concerns.
Anyone have that CI info? thanks.

At ZLC we try to send you to a Delta Terminal, but not a gate...could be a good idea...
