My favorite planes to fly are the PMDG 737/747, PSS 757/777 and the LVD 767. I am rated in all but the 777 which is why I have this question. How can I be rated in all of these Boeings except the 777 which is similar to the other Boeing's but here it say's I am rated in all of the Airbus series planes and I don't have a clue how to fly an Airbus?

The systems on the 777 are not much different then the 747, 757 or the 767 but the A330's etc are totally different. Anyway I could swap my Airbus ratings in for the 777 rating? Our passengers would feel much safer if we did. smile

Here are my Airbus ratings: A300-600, A310, A318, A319, A320, A321, A330-200, A330-300.

I really couldn't tell you which Airbus is the big one but one of them has to be close in weight at the 777 no?

Uh, cuz its a seperate rating, in the real world they don't just give you a rating for anything that
weighs the same either smile

Besides, most the fun in DVA are the cool checkrides we get to work on, and believe me, you
wouldn't want to miss the challenge the 777 ride has to offer. Looking back I've enjoyed every
one of them for the unique challenge each offered.

I'm just about to do my 727 ride here shortly.

OH, the empty weight of the 777 is from 307 - 367K lbs depending on the model and config,
the A330-300 is lighter at only 262K, so you'd need to go A340 to get into the same range,
and then of course we're talking 4 engine, so it has new complexities.

In the real world they wouldn't give me an Airbus rating when I have never flown one either. smile

I understand the rating's and checkrides and do enjoy them myself. I just thought since I am rated to fly similar Boeing aircraft to the 777 I would have a rating in that before I would on any Airbus.

Now on the other hand. I am rated in the 747 so how come I don't have a A340 rating? smile

I am not asking for a handout rating that is for sure. Just curious on how this rating thing is working.
