I just joined Delta Virtual after having flown with another virtual airline for several years. I just completed my first flight. I've also been trolling the website to learn more about the operations, the people, etc. All I have to say is "wow". Everything about this VA has impressed me so far. I am especially impressed with the technology. I love the use of Google maps. I love the live ACARS view and route plotting features. I'm impressed at the fleet and schedule breadth. And I'm impressed with the documentation and overall professionalism I see hear. To all that make this group possible, thank you. I'm looking forward to a long career here.

Bob, I had the same first impressions as you when I first joined, and let me tell ya, they stay the whole time! Have you had a chance to use the ACARS Client? Currently some people are having trouble with it, but it's an EXCELLENT client written by our own Luke Kolin. It gives tons of information, and it is a chat box. That's how our Check Ride are done and everything, it's an amazing little tool.
The folks here are friendly and there is a nice group of people who use the chat on ACARS often and it's just a great community.

Welcome to DVA Robert. There's a lot to learn here, but the people here are only too glad to help. There are no dumb questions.
As for ACARS...I install it, use it, and it works every time! Never a problem. You will fall in love with it the first time you fly VATSIM and need to switch to DEP frequency while flying a tight SID.

Thanks for the warm reception. I've flown a couple of flights with ACARS right now. It is unbelieveable and I absolutely love the post flight reports. Being able to view the flight in 3D in Google Earth is an unbelievable training tool. ...again, Wow!

I must say I have tried out many VA's and walked away unimpressed, for kicks I follow the other VA's on the flight sim websites and chuckle, as yeah nice attempt, but DVA is hands down the best I've been in from they way the website is run to operations, the staff, that ACARS system, and the fact I'm a huge Delta fan make a nice mix. I like the fact you can make you flight as real as you want, fly on line or off, my choice. I can fly my MD-11 from KBIL to KSLC if I want and it will get approved. I am definately here to stay.

Welcome to the best of the best! DVA stands a head taller than ANY other VA, in my not-so-humble opinion. There is a tremendous amount of support here. You can be as real as you want or simply fly to enjoy this great hobby (for some it's more than a hobby... just as those who have built an entire simulator in their home..  ). Here you'll find many options for flights and the fact that DVA allows you to use any plane that you are rated for on any route, provided that the airplane has the range, is great. I particularly like that you don't have to fly on VATSIM as real-life duties cause me to have to pause sometimes several times in one flight. VATSIM controllers wouldn't like to put up with that for long. Also my favorite thing is that DVA will allow you to use time accel up to 4x. That comes in real handy for cruising on longer flights as I dont have the time or most likely the patience to sit for extended periods in cruise flight. But there is much more to appreciate here.
