I know everything is dependent on management and I don't want to go too far outside of what our airline scope is - but I do know that Delta charters various aircraft for College Teams across the country in various sports. I am proposing a Sports Charter Division for DVA. I would even offer to head the division. I don't know if anyone would be interested in something like this or not. Again, for the sports lover this would be a chance for ex...this fall a charter flight from South Bend, IN to Ann Arbor Michigan or a flight from Norman, OK to Lubbock, TX to transport there favorite team. Being a coach at a University, we do fly charter from time to time. I even have the form we use to schedule a charter flight. Give me your feedback management and let me know if this is something we want to move forward with.

I would be interested in something like this. A few years ago, when Nebraska came down for the Alamo Bowl, they used a chartered Northwest B744. It was an incredible site on the ramp smile

I would be interested in something like this. Oklahoma being my favorite college football and basketball teams, I would love to fly their charter flight "virtually"! And i will definantly fly them from Norman, Oklahoma to Lincoln, Nebraska! This is a great idea Ryan! I like how you think! smile

I mentioned this last season. I know that FSU charters a 763 from Delta and Auburn charters a 738 from Delta for their road trips. I would very much like to do them.

I would love to have a charter division of DVA. I know that my three hometown teams, the Reds, Bengals, and Bearcats all use Delta and I believe we could do it if we just put (Team) Charter Flight. I know the FlightAware forums try to find every charter.

For those Oklahoma University fans, they don't fly out of Norman, OK. They charter NW out of OKC. Same thing with the OKC Thunder (NBA), they used NW babybus'es last year.

I would be in favor of this, but, it would have to work with a bidding system, that way we don't have 50 pilots flying the same flight, since most of these charters are 1 time flights until the next game.

This idea has come up in the past. While it is a popular idea, and senior management is not opposed to it, someone needs to provide Luke with reliable flight information so that the flights can be approved. Currently DVA uses an Innovata feed (I believe) for regularly scheduled Delta flights. If someone could find a similar source, sports charters will probably be do-able.

As I stated earlier, usually the FlightAware forums find the right flights. Here are the 2009 MLB Charters.

Daniel, While that forum has some information in it, I can see that it is not entirely accurate by the number of corrections in it.

See Luke's reply to a similar request here: http://www.deltava.org/thread.do?id=0x111a2
