So a long time ago i started my private pilot course in the flight academy but didnt do any flights and it got the rating of abaonded. Now i have more time and am ready to start up, but i dont know how to re-enroll because it was aboned. Should i just do the first flight in the course and start it up again?

Brett, if you go into pilot center then right down to the bottom where it says flight academy click there. It should come up with private pilot, stage 1, abandoned in orange. Click the word private pilot. Finally go down to the bottom of this page and it should say "return". You will have requested re-enrollement. Hope this helps,

All best!

You will have a long wait as you will be at the back of the line. The PPL Academy is just now processing January 09' applicants.

Ok, thanks. Two more questions:
1: Is there some manual or papre i can get that gives me specific details of each flight i am supossed to do?
2: I use the older version of ACARS because it works alot better on my computer than the newer version, on the older version i noticed that there was no button for flight academy, should i use the new version or what should i do?

Brett,

You will be given access to the proper documents at the time you are accepted into the program. Also, the version of ACARS doesn't matter for the Flight Academy. While you should usually use the newest version, ACARS will only be used for two flights during your PPL training. You will meet up with your CFI and connect to each other's planes via Gates.to FSNet ($5). It is a nifty program. You'll work out a time with said CFI, fly the lessons and you will have a solo cross country to do, as assigned by your CFI. Once all that is done, you'll do a check ride review lesson then onto to the check ride. Hope this helps!

Brett,

I read in one of the posts, that the Academy uses the EMB-120ER for the PPL coarse. It recommends to get familiar with this aircraft and also read the Academy manuals found in the Document Library in advance to starting the PPL coarse.

I for one have begun flying the EMB-120ER (off-line and no ACARS) just to get used to it.
Hope this helps...

The other recommendation that I would have is fly out and around Salt Lake City (Home of the Academy)
