It wouldn't suprise me if this plane has been used for Hadj flights, or was intended for those flights, and has simply been stored/abandoned at Teheran.
She's one of the few Delta Tristar 250 converts.
nice find!

Ok, this L1011 is registered to Wells Fargo Bank Northwest NA Trustee. The FAA is showing the reg. as valid. So that a/c is still registered in the US to an American company. It was registered in 2004 and apparently still has a current air worthiness certificate. It is a L1011-385-3, ser. num 193W-1189. So how'd it get to Iran?

Sorry for the sort of OT question, but at A/C junkyards, can you take/buy stuff from there? In the picture everything looks pretty easily accessed. I'm sort of a handyman, and I love modding a/c parts into household clocks or displays.

See thats what I don't get. According to the FAA, this a/c is owned by Wells Fargo and is currently registered in the US. Now, I'm just wondering how it came into the possesion of Universal Air. I mean, doesn't the US have a prety strict export control policy in place with regard to Iran? I thought that modern a/c, and yes I include the L1011 in that, were not allowed to be sold to Iranian companies? Maybe that's why it's still registered in the US. To try and circumvent those laws. Could that be it maybe?

I think you missed it.. this L1011 and its sister, both parked there, are NOT us registered, AND they are ex Air Universal aircraft. None of the A/C there have a N-number, and it is NOT a Delta Bird or EX Delta bird.
Look at this: Almost the same shot!

Doing some digging on a.net, apparently there are TWO Air Universal L-1011s parked there, or were at one point. The fact that the one in Danyal's picture is sitting next to that chopped 727 (*weep*) indicates that it's probably 9L-LDE as Joe posted above. That's ex-N740DA, and is indeed one of Delta's Tristar 250 conversions. Comments on a.net pictures indicate that she was delivered to Delta in 1983 and flew with her widgets for eighteen years, until 8 July 2001.
The other plane that is or was there as of July is 9L-LDC:
http://www.airliners.net/photo/Air-Universal/Lockheed-L-1011-385-1-15-TriStar/1560269/L/&sid=631a7ad9552cefe6a75ad138f8c17891
That's a Tristar 100, and the interesting thing about it is that even though it has the same Delta widget-era cheatline as 9L-LDE, it never flew for Delta. It's an ex-TWA bird (with tape engine gauges instead of dials), delivered 1982 as N7035T, and also flew for Air Atlanta Icelandic (twice) and Caledonian before winding up with Air Universal. You can tell it apart from the one in Danyal's picture because the radome is white instead of the black you'd expect on a Delta jet.

OK....
9L-LDE was re registered to EP-LDE in 2006 for Universal Airlines, EP-LDE Reg was cancelled on 30-12-2007 as stored at THR
9L-LDC Reg was cancelled the same date 301-12-2007, so both aircraft are unregistered at the moment but still carring the previous reg's, Both aircraft are stored @ THR
Hope this helps

How much you rekon a old plane would cost in a boneyard (not inculding repair costs etc)
Also how hard you think it would be to wire one of those old cockpits so that all the buttons etc work on FS?
