This is really a dumb question but I'm new to DeltaVA and have always noticed the DALxxxx aircraft id's on VATSIM. I've been assigned the DVAxxxx aircraft id. Is this the new id for all new DeltaVA pilots?

personal preference from what i understand, you can use the flight # of your flight, or DAL7689 or DVA7689

Most of the time everyone uses DALxxxx when flying online. If you start using flight numbers one day you will end up using someones ID and they wont be able to use it themselves. Its a courtesy thing, I always fly using DAL1580, that way you have an idea who each other is by the ID number. My thoughts are not required by the way, just guidlines.

Thanks Scott and Dylan. The thought about using DAL and my DeltaVA id number (DAL7689) makes good sense to me.

Well DAL is Delta Airlines and DVA is Discovery Airways.

Not much ticks me off more when I'm controlling than a guy with a "DVA" call sign calling himself Delta.

Unfortunatley, not many people know that DVA is Dicovery. The first thing they think of is Delta Virtual. So in a way, thats a compliment to us here. That people more readily associate DVA with, well, DVA than with Discovery. And Jon, after you've been with us for awhile flying online, you'll find that what Scott said is very true. Just about everyone here who flies online uses the DAL callsign with their pilot id, for instance whenever I fly online I use DAL1038. That way too, other DVA pilots can pretty much tell if you're someone they know or just someone with the same name as someone here.

If you look at my vataware info, you will see i just recently started to use DAL instead of DVA just for that reason... A controller got ticked, and made my experience bad that night, so I changed to DAL.
