Awesome shots! If this bird wasn't so overpriced, I'd jump on it in a heartbeat, but 45 bucks is a bit much for a little turbo prop. Lower to 30 and I'll get myself a copy!

Looks great and that night lighting is beautiful! I'd say PMDG's price points aren't as good as they could be. They'd make a lot more money if they lowered the price, seems counter intuitive, but they'll make it up in volume.

I keep hearing people complain about the price, I dont see whats wrong with the price.
The average computer or video game is 40-50 dollars and if you're anything like me you probably only play it for 1-2 weeks. Think how many hundreds of hours you spend enjoying a good sim in FS.
I'd pay triple what they ask for their software.

Well...let's take a step to nearly 10 years ago with FS2000 and 2002. I was used to paying $15-20 for a scenery, and maybe $30 for a plane (I remember the PSS A320, 777 [v1], some of the Ariane models, etc.). Now that technology has advanced and developers have become very creative with added features, naturally, more time and manpower are required as our expectations get higher and higher. There are still a few companies I would be hesitant to pay $50+ for a plane based on past experiences but PMDG has established themselves in my book as a quality organization. I'm a fan of realism and systems-intensive aircraft (guess it goes along with being an engineer) so I respect the amount of research and coding that has to go into such a product. Most of these developers have far fewer staff than any video game team (which usually sell far more than any niche Flight Simulator addon). With PMDG, and a couple of preview screenshots, I know what kind of quality I'll get in return and these expectations are always surpassed.
I'll admit, sticker shock does get me sometimes, but I always quickly get over it.

If PMDG dropped the price of their 744 and MD-11 down to say 60 dollars, a plane better quality than the LDS767 for just 5 dollars more, they would sell tons more! They definitely would make 120 bucks off of me! 80 bucks really throws people away, and as Ryan said, they'd make more money dropping it down 20 bucks. The J41, if they lowered it to say 30 dollars, which is a bit more expensive than competitor turbo prop add-ons, they'd make more on that too! I just don't understand their thinking.

They did do a very good job on it, but I think they made a poor choice in aircraft. Theirs only been about 100 J41s built, and they could have built a Dash-8 which is also a twin turboprop, and is also over 10 times as popular with over 1,000 built.

John, the Dash-8 is their next turboprop. Whether they're doing a -100, -300, or Q400, I don't know; I'm assuming a Q400.
EDIT: Noah, how are your framerates in that detailed VC compared to other aircraft? I'm tempted by the JS41 but I don't know how well it'll run on my box.

Believe it or not I actually flew this exact aircraft in real life about 10 years ago when I flew for Atlantic Coast Airlines. Need to check out my closest to see if I still have the aircraft manuals for the J-41.

pmdg is pricey, but all their products are - because they are good. you guys would be hard pressed to find negative comments that hold any water regarding their products.
"but 45 bucks is a bit much for a little turbo prop" why would a turboprop which has been so well modeled cost any less than one of their jets?
