I will be starting RW ground school in one week, and was wondering if Delta's Flight Academy is a requirement. I am also wondering if what I learn in Ground School will be the same as what I learn in the Flight Academy

Thanks,
Lucas

Although the Academy is not a requirement, it is encouraged. The Academy also offers training geared more towards commercial passenger aircraft. You will probably cover similar concepts as your RW ground school initially, put you'll eventually progress to more advanced areas.

We used the current FAA program, books, etc + 40 + years of RW flying experience to develop the Delta VA flight academy. You will find that many of the concepts that we teach in the academy are also taught in the real world.....good luck on your training.

Scott, since I am a real world private pilot, would I be able to skip some of the initial lessons or am I still required to go through the entire course?

You would not "skip" the lessons but when you fly with your instructor you should breeze thru parts of the course. The key to the course is to fly the EMB120 as much as you can to work on flying it.....If you can devote 2-3 nights a week to fly with the instructor and then practice the other nights, you should move thru the course very quickly. However, if you fly the EMB 120 once a week, and do not practice, it will take you some time to get through....
