Ok, first off...could we just compile a .pdf or a stickied forum post of recommended add-ons for FSX and FS9? (two sims separated, please) (both payware and freeware)

Second...I think it would be a good idea if in the pilot center we could have a link to a roster of pilots that are in your equipment type. This VA is too huge to know everyone anymore, so maybe at least you could get to know some people that fly your equipment type. Also within that you could look at other programs' rosters, just in case you are in the CRJ pilot but like the 737 and can't fly it because you don't have the rating (new or can't pass CR). This could also be under "Our People" on the main site. I think that would be a cool thing to have.

Thanks

We do have a roster that can be sorted by equipment type, look on your side bar under "PEOPLE"

A .pdf or post of recommended add-ons for FS9 and FSX freeware or payware would be huge because of the large amount of both. But would be greatly helpful and eliminate at least 3 or 4 posts a week.

Sure you didn't lowball that estimate Nicholas? I'm seeing AT LEAST one post daily asking about addons for either FSX or FS9. Its probably closer to 10-14 a week. Of course, a database like that would have to be no more than a simple list. Product, Price (if payware), type (i.e. addon a/c, scenery, weather, etc), recomended or not. And that last one prob. wouldn't be there b/c of products like the CS 757, some people love it, others hate it with no middle ground. Just my .02

I think it would be good to provide a list with unbiased comments in it, example. CS 757 Aircraft Payware($xx.xx) FSX and FS9, recommended FSX.

PSS 757 Aircraft Payware ($xx.xx) FS9 only, recommended FS9.

See, something like that would be great. The only thing I'd be a little leary of is whether or not the "recomended" should be in there. Like I said, opinions vary so widly on most addons that what one person would recomend, another would say to avoid like the plauge. I do thin the list would be a great idea though. Then, anyone who is curious about which addons they want could check the list, see whats available, then if they had a specific ques. about a product, they could post that in the cooler. It would at least eliminate the, "hey what addons should I get for FS_?"

My point exactly. So that we can save some bandwidth here, and a few nuisances...we should compile a list of add-ons. Now, the thing is, there are so many out there, you would only be able to do a few. But part of the idea was to have it to where it can be openly edited so that if someone sees an add-on, downloads it and likes it he can then post it in the topic/pdf so that one person doesn't have to go through and type everything. People contributing, instead of one or a few slaving.

An idea for that system is to have a forum topic, make it a sticky, and post a reply the add-on(s) recommended with details, and then a staff member can compile it into the topic and delete the reply for organization purposes. wink

I know that it might be a nuisance at first, but after a short while, it will be worth it.

And we have a resource section as well here in DVA

Tons of this question "must haves" for FS9 and FSX online already - search Google.
