I suggest that the Pilot Roster be improved with an option to display pilots by most recent activity, that is, by date/time of most recently logged flight. I know there's a "Status" sort, but it is not clear what sort of status it is sorting. If there were an option to sort by most recent activity, then members who have recently logged a flight would appear at the top of the roster. That would be very cool to be at or near the top of a roster with 1600+ members!

While it's not up to me to decide, I'm not sure I see the value in this. Unless I'm missing something, I don't think this list wouldn't provide any useful or pertinent information, other than who has recently logged a flight -- information that would change constantly during the day and that carries no real merit or mark of achievement.
Can you explain what you're after in more detail and then maybe I can "get it".

I agree that the Pilot Roster, being simply a list of names and id's is not that useful. Why should we offer this information at all? As you said, it carries no real merit or mark of achievement, exccept for the dubious distinction of who has the lowest id number.
But if we are going to make this list available, then I feel like the more active members should be better represented. It's true that there is a sort option for number of flights and number of hours (honorable distinctions indeed), but it seems a little unfair to guys who are flying every day to be buried deep in the pile just because there's 500 guys who have flown more hours (or have lower id numbers), yet haven't logged a single flight in the last year or two (which is certainly possible because "active" membership requires only that a member periodically login to the website).
Letting the active (i.e., flying) members bubble to the top of the Pilot Roster will foster a sense of healthy competition, motivate members to fly more, and provide a new perspective about or members that can provide a focus for relevant discussions by other members and the administration.
(stepping off of soap box....) but it's a good idea!

I would rather see it against the DVA core principles. (Read page 13 of DVA FAQ)
Extract given below ...
"We feel that true participation in a virtual airline is not restricted to merely flying; it involves interaction with your fellow pilots to make the virtual airline experience a better one."
More is written there .. I suggest people to go through that page ...

I hand wrote the below extract - No easy means to copy/paste because of some lock in the PDF. So pls. excuse me for any errors. For the correct version refer page 13 of the DVA FAQ.
"We recognize that many of you will have pressures from work, school or family from time to time. Many of our pilots are members of the US military or the reserves and are therefore stationed overseas for weeks or months at a time. We hope that during these periods, you can still find the time to visit Delta Virtual Airlines. You may not have the time for a 4 hours flight - but you might be able to drop by the Water Cooler for 15 to 20 minutes to chat."
What is essentially means is all those people who are not 'flying' but contributing in other forms like responding to questions, helping other guys out, training fellow pilots, grading check rides and are involved in staff activities of promoting and HR etc. are at a disadvantage.

I however understand what you say - For that you can always look at the Century Clubs. Sorting the roster by Flight Legs / Flight Hours / Login Date serves a similar purpose.

Gurmeet - you highlight some interesting points about pilot activity, but I think it misses the mark. Having an option to sort the pilot roster by the date of the most recent flight will take nothing away from the accomplishments of people who are not active on the flight line. It will only provide another perspective by highlighting active (flying) members.

I'll add another sort option on the roster page. That's pretty simple to do.
Cheers!

The View Logbooks section already provides a color coded guide to tell you who is active and who is not.
