In general for check rides after I get my MD-88 Captain rating how does one 'practice' say for the 737 CR. I don't want to transfer programs but would like additional ratings. However, I will not get credit for making 737 flights without taking the check ride. But, hard to fly check ride without making a bunch of flights first... thx.

Lindsey you can fly the 737, check the THIS IS A TRAINING FLIGHT box, and practice all you want. Checking that box allows you to review your flight data collected from ACARS...great tool to see where your issues are...when you go and take the checkride, then you check the THIS IS A CHECKRIDE box.
Once you get the ratings, all of your flights will count towards your total number of flights...and if you decide to transfer into the 737 program, as long as you have 10 flights on ACARS, and pass the checkride or test, you should be good to go
