I have been using FSX and VATSIM for a while now, but I never found a guide on how to setup my Auto Pilot to follow the waypoints setup. It is my general understanding that you setup your Flight Plan then grab the frequencies and plug it into your radio stack. Do we have a more detailed guide on this? If so, I am probably just blind, but could you provide me with a URL?

Thanks advance for any help, and happy flying!

Skylar, for the default GPS navigation you make your flight plan and save it. Load the plan (it is automatically loaded into the defualt GPS) start your flight. The altitudes, speeds are set by you, and you need to ensure that your NAV/GPS switch is set to the GPS position. Then set AP for your route and off you go.

Awesome thanks. That helps a lot

For whatever reason I thought it involved a lot more than just a button switch! Fooled yet again

You can always fly VOR to VOR or/and VOR radials the way you described Skylar.
Then you have to tune your NAV radio to the VOR in question, and course if on VOR radial,
and so on as you go.
But, with all the nice payware popping out the last years, with FMC,ND and coupled AP with Autoland function,
it seems to be a lost art. All to many pilots jump into the heavy iron without having done the basics first these days. So I can only reccomend doing it that "old fashined" way to acchieve better undestanding on how to navigate, witout all the automation involved. wink

Very true Tommy,

When I started flying, I had skipped the basics (sadly) and went straight for a 737. I now get to learn the hard way how to do it all right. Having far too much fun with the CRJ-900 though for sure.
