Hello Everyone,
I've recently been accepted into the airline and I'm looking forward to flying with everyone. This is a top-notch group and I feel very grateful to have been accepted. Look forward to meeting more of you.

I have a couple questions regarding scheduling. Are we supposed to schedule flights from our current airport location or can we just pick whatever flight we want (as long as it fits our rating type)? For example: If I fly from KCLT to KATL...does my next flight have to come from KATL?

Second question: IF I did a trip say...KCLT to KATL and then KATL to KCLT...do I have to choose flights where the return flight would have to say leg 2? Or is it okay if both flights I scheduled say leg 1?

My apologies if I've missed this question if it's already been answered. I'm trying to read the awesome reference materials, but I haven't gotten through everything yet.

Thanks for your time.

Chris

Chris, welcome to DVA!

You may fly any flight you wish as long as your aircraft can make it. We do not force our pilots to follow especific routes or legs.

Enjoy!

-You do not need to schedule flights from your current location. If you're currently at ATL and want to fly ORD - JFK, that is fine.
-Regarding the flight legs, there is no requirement here. If you want to fly AF6723 LEG 3 you can do that without flying any of the other legs, etc.

Furthermore, you can fly any route with any aircraft you are rated in as long as it can safely make the flight. For example, if a flight from ORD - ATL is operated with a CRJ-700, you can fly it with an MD-88, 737, 747, etc.

Lastly, enjoy your stay at DVA! It's a great place.

To add to all of this, the route you choose MUST be in the DVA Schedule, since it's the only official source of routes you can file here.

In short, to piggie-back on David, I highly recommend you use the "Browse Schedule" located in the Pilot Center. It's kind of cool. The origin airport will be set to your home airfield by default but you can change that to whatever you want and select a destination. This way, you know the flight will be approved. Same concept if you are in ACARS, search the online schedule (as a back-up).

Welcome aboard!
