Winner is the first one to post the answer(s).
Delta Airlines has two boneyards. What are their designations? Why are they designated as such and where are they?

I'm pretty sure I got your designations, and for why, because since its dryer in the desert, they figured that the planes won't corrode as much. or thats what i hear at least.

Ok....
Last Summer Delta purchased a new full motion simulator...What model aircraft is the simulator and why?
Extra credit if you can guess what type of motion it uses.

I'm not exactly sure, I remember thinking it was weird myself. I believe it was to bring their training devices up to par with a new FAA safety program, and also to train Delta's pilots above standards in case the 300 were to be ordered.

John is close...Delta ordered the 300 variant because it was ready. If they had waited for the 200, it would have been another 12-18 months. They now have a 300 simulator that is electric and not hydraulic and this was done to save money. An electric full motion simulator costs far less than a hydraulic one.
The simulator software can be configured for the 200 specs. which will conform to FAA standards.
As of July 2009, there was no plan to acquire any 773's.

Delta Trivia Continued:
1. What's the egine type (specific) on the 73Gs (737-700s) and why did they choose that variant.
2. Delta introduced the Airfone to airline travel. What a/c and route was it first used on.

Delta Air Lines flight 1288, an MD-88, which experienced an uncontained engine failure during the initial part of its takeoff roll at Pensacola Regional Airport in Pensacola, Florida, on July 6, 1996...no idea why you call it the Ghost Ship.

It is amazing how realistic the motion is in that. It really amazed me how it simulates just the slight bumps that you would feel while flying, not only the significant ones.

If I remember correctly when that engine went some blades went threw the plane and killed a mother and her child. If you ever see that plane you can some what see where they re-done the back part of the plane. But yes you are right about that one.

Well I did a lil bit of work but if you seach airliners.net about DL1288 theres even a pic of that plane where some blades went threw and this is what he posted on there........ NTSB report below on the DL1288 MD-88 uncontained engine failure at Pensacola, Florida in 1996. Two passengers sitting adjacent to the engine were killed and several seriously injured.

Gotta know somebody that knows somebody
For me, the first time I was in a full motion sim was at Continental's training center in Texas. Was an MD82 from what I remember; couldn't have been more the 12 yrs old. Since then, have flown aeverything under the sky at Continental's sim base. Been at DL's training center and got a chance to fly the MD-11, 738, and 757. I did an internship with ASA (Atlantic Southeast not Alaska) one year and flew the Brazilia, 200, 700 and ATR. This was of course with Flight Safety across the street from their headquarters in Atlanta. They don't have their own simulators. Funnied thing, the CR7 was the most difficult sim to me out of all the others i've ever flown; even the heavies. The yoke is extremely heavy for some reason andit tends to nose down on approach and rockets in the air on take-off (needs a lot of trim to keep her from going to like 30 degrees )

As to the the tough yoke, my suggestion is that they may not have hydraulic assistance, or if they do, perhaps it is not as strong.

Same engine as some of the 763ERs; PW4000s. The other domestic 763s carry the CF6-80As which is almost like some 763ERs BUT the other ERs carry the GE CF6-80Cs under the wings.
I'm a Delta junkie
