Hi guys,

I been using two monitors since I got my new rig, 23'' and 19'' and I have a little question.
I use the big one as a main one and the other as a secondary.
Is there any setting where I won't exit the sim every time I bring the task bar up?
Thanks in advance for any suggestion
Regards. Vincenzo

Vincenzo, try going into the setting and uncheck the box that says Pause on task. I think thats what it says, anyway. You'll see it there. If its not checked, you can minimize FS and it will keep running in the background, letting you surf the net or chat on ACARS without pausing the sim. Hope that helps.

I have it unchecked already, what I would like to see is FS running in the main at all the time while I'm chatting on ACARS ,surfing the web or whatever on the other........

Vincenzo,

I have a similar setup with two monitors on my Nvidia GeForce 9800GT. I have a 19" 1440x900 screen, and a ... idk how big it is, but its res is 1024x768 (i know, how on earth do I, a computer wiz, deal with such a low res....it was free...thats how wink )

Heres what I do:
I run my FSX in windowed mode, so it isn't in full screen. The problem this causes is that you have the title bar at the very top, If your like me and have your taskbar set to automatically hide, sometimes it pops up when you are trying to do something on the bottom of your panel, and you sacrifice a little bit of graphics quality.

The advantages to doing this I have found are this. You can monitor squawk box, and ACARS in the second display, and also have pdf approach charts that you can open and reference quickly. You never lose sight of whats going on in your FS, because it doesnt minimize when you switch out of it. You can also "undock" pop up windows like your GPS, or radio stack and move them to the second display and leave them up through the whole flight and they arent in the way! This is a huge convenience to me, because I can monitor all of these windows while flying, and I never lose sight of any instruments.

Now the fun part, putting this into action...Its quite simple really. When you are in your cockpit (or any other view, but you have to have started a flight), simply press Alt+Enter. This will toggle between full screen and windowed mode.

I think this is probably the way you want to go Vincenzo, I have really enjoyed being able to see all of this data simultaneously...

Hope this helps!!!
Dylan

Dylan what you suggest is exactly what I'm doing but for some reason if for an instance I want to check anything outside the sim, I'm exiting the game......weird!

Actually I'm using same Alt+Enter way to switch between window/fullscreen modes. But it takes few seconds and just looks ugly.

If you leave it in windowed mode, you can switch between windows much easier. It isnt as pretty, but personally, I'll take function over aesthetics...

I run it in windowed mode so I have access to my other two monitors -- and it works fine. Just make sure in your display settings to make the resolution the same as your monitor's native resolution (1680x1050 for a 22" widescreen lcd for example)

I believe fullscreen mode gives better user experience including better picture quality and higher FPS
