I just got a new computer, and I'm having problems getting FSX to install fully. I've tried it several times now, and all I can get is .98GB installed. Running win 7

What is the error message?? .... are you running the installer with ADMIN privileges?

Yes, running with admin privaleges. There is no error code. It goes through the install process, asks me to register, but doesn't put an icon on the desktop, or any files anywhere that I can find. When I look at the file size, it says there is only a .98GB file.

I don't think you're having exactly the same problems that Tommy did, but some of the advice I gave him may work for you also, especially about cleaning up temp files and using the Microsoft Uninstaller Cleanup tool.

I am running Win 7 and I found a unusual quirk. Seems that if I didn't give "Everyone" admin privedledges and full rights to the FSX files it wouldn't run properly. I also had to give FSX free passage through the system Firewall. After applying these changes I had no problems what so ever. I don't know why it worked.....I just know it worked. Hope this is of some use to you....oh....and as Michel pointed out run everything as admin.
