Does anyone know of a good MD-11 package (preferably free) for using with FSX as the one from the fleet library only seems to be fs2004 or earlier...........

I have been looking at the PDMG package but the price seems a bit much for 1 aircraft. Either that or I'm just tight...........................

I think someone said best buy had PMDG 747 on sale for like 20 bucks. Just keep your eyes peeled you can probably find the MD-11 at some other source for less than they want.

Yep, I picked up the 747 for 29.99. I have been looking but have not seen the MD-11 at Best Buy.

The free Overland Md-11 is still available. I think it is fs2002 and Fs9 compatible though. I have it installed in FSX, but have not used it yet.

That'd be me Matt, Best-Buy is blowing out the PMDG 747X for 29.99

Why not just get the 747 instead? Four engines are better than three wink

Guys, thank you for your responses. I had a look around various sites at the free alternatives..............not too impressed. In the end I just bought the PMDG ones I was looking at (747X and MD-11). Only problem I have now is that both those aircraft seem to slow FSX down SO much compared to a standard airplane...............

My cpu is very old and less than stellar, When I use a default C172 with med-hi and hi settings (no traffic or ground vehicles, etc.) I only get about 17 FPS but I find that I can fly just as well as the guy who gets 60FPS. I getapprox. 15FPS in the PMDG747X but I still fly it just fine.

Welcome to the elite, to the best planes out there, however as you now have PMDG on FSX you
need to go read thru this forum and make the system tuning changes suggested, it will not only
save you some grief it will also improve your performance on FSX a lot:

http://forums1.avsim.net/index.php?showtopic=280688

Ryan (dev from PMDG) has some recommendations in the beginning of that thread, I would do
everything he suggests. Well, I should qualify that, read the WHOLE thread and do what's
recommended ultimately, the beginning he was having people disable sound, and that really
has nothing to do with the solution as it was finally worked out. There are a few different
threads on avsim on this stuff that should be looked over.

Some of these bugs were made even worse if you flew the new Concorde-X, but the solutions
help every one using FSX I believe.

Cheers,

You can use the ifdg MD-11. Unfortunately, the ACS panel does not work. There are very few three engine panels out there for FSX. I found one with steam gauges and used it for a bit. If you do go to http://www.flightsimworld.com/reviews/showcat.php?cat=13 go to the downloads section and search for MD-11. One of the first entries is an FSX MD-11 panel with Gauges by Ken Mitchell.
