Good news for FSX flyers, the new Intel i9 six core processor is officially out, . The only one available as of today is called the i7 980X Extreme 3.3 Ghz Gulftown, at $1,100. The other mainstream and performance editions are soon to follow, hopefully with a better price. Why they tagged this version "i7" is a mystery to me, but it is the newer 32nm i9 Gulftown architecture. Possibly it has to do with 1366 motherboard recognition. See it here:

Are you being serious? I can't keep up with technology.

They are releasing the Nvidia Geforce 480 GPU'S at the end of this month also (rumored) !!!

Anyway team a pair of those i9's with this motherboard and you will have the fastest computer ever!!

Ya, its all wonderful (I work for Intel, I know :)), but the problem is the sim's are SMP stupid
so the only benefit you see is the OS using the other cores. I'm not convinced even Win 7
is that multi-core smart, yes, it uses all of my quad cores, but when running FSX I still have
CPU 0 getting absolutely slammed with the other 3 just seeing spikes.

Can only dream about a sim that is finely threaded and disperses work across all cores...
