I'm having trouble getting repaints to install on my LDS 763. I'm running Windows 7 64 bit Running everything in the administrator mode. I start the repaint mgr. install the repaint that I downloaded from LDS. it says everything is installed, but when I go to FS9 and select the LDS 763, the repaint isn't there. It's only showing the default LDS paint. I have tried both the DXT3, and the regular one. All assistance on this is greatly appreciated.

Yes I did Skylar. LevelD is the only variant that shows when I click on that.

Does this happen with all repaints you try to install, or just one?

Check to make sure they're placed in the aircraft.cfg file correctly.

And you make want to head over to the leveldsim.com forums. I help there some but sadly have not run across this one. Between, Checky, Daryl, Bill, etc etc. Im sure someone has and knew how to help.

Advise using the search function over there before posting though.....:)

This happens to all the repaints I attempt to install. I started this topic in the LDS forums, and I have also been to the AVSIM forums in hopes of finding a resolution. When I download the repaint, it says to open it in the downloads file of LDS. That's where I'm putting the repaint.

I had the same issue with both the Wilco Feel-There 737 and Airbus series, using Win7 64 bit. I think what causes the problem is that the folder location is "Program Files x86" and not just "program files". For me the textures installed correctly, but I had to manually edit the aircraft config because all of the configurations had the same number, i.e. 001, etc.

Hey Bill, what about reinstalling in just the program files?

Phil, I haven't tried that. This is the first time I have had FS on a 64 bit system, so I haven't had time to play with it too much. It really should not make any difference which folder you install to from an operational stand point. The only real reason that both folders are there is so that apps that have both a 32 and 64 bit version (Internet Explorer, for example) can be split up so you don't get them confused. of course to move from one folder to another you would have to re-install FSX and all of your add-ons.......

Try running the FS Registry repair tool that DVA has -- sounds like the programs just don't know where FS is installed.

That could work depending on how the tool works. If the tool actually looks and finds the fs.exe file, it should work, if it just sets the registry entries to c:\program files\microsoft games\etc then you will still have the same issue you do now.

Phillip you have'nt responded to Daryl yet over at leveld. I can assure you he personally has fixed more "issues" in the last 5 years than all the rest of us over there combined. He can be a lil trite but he just wants the facts.....lol.

I'm working with Daryl on ya, we'll get ya fixed. Be patient, at first glance a touch odd but sometimes they are. smile

Exactly which repaint are you having trouble with or is it all of them? Have you ever successfully installed a repaint using the manager before or is this a "new" problem?

We'll switch hit ya here and there till you're fixed!

On a second note there has been some issues from a rare number of users all the way back to the release of some people just not being able to use the repaint manager. I'm talking early-late Win XP, single core, FS2004 only. A very few of them had to resort to just creating the "aircraft" folder their self and moving the .bmps in and editing the aircraft.cfg (like we did back in the good old days). If you wanna get up and running with a DAL skin I'm sure we can work that out. There are repaints out there NOT in the .lds format for us old guys that sometimes like to install stuff ourself!

Not a "fix" just a kinda temporary workaround to get you flying.

Just holler Captain

Chuck, when I was using windows XP I had no problems installing any repaints. When I got this new computer with windows7 is when I started experiencing all my problems.

Its almost always an "admin" issue since XP but I know you've been down that road....me and Daryl are discussing it but hopefully your not one of the 0.5% that it will not work for because there will be NO more updates from Level-D on the FS9 767. It's a "closed book", but the support will always be there as best as we can. The 767 for FS9 has already well outlived the former 767PIC (although that was a piece of work!)

Hang tight or get at me if you want to manually try to install a DAL skin.
