It has been determined that the blue screen of death code 0x00000124 is caused by audio devices in Windows Vista.

This particular issue is industry-wide and can happen on any computer with a sound card or integrated audio and Windows Vista.

We have found a workaround to this issue which should help stabilize the system without sacrifing something as important as your computer's audio devices.

Please perform the following steps to resolve the issue:

1. Go to the BIOS by pressing [DEL] during POST.
2. Go to Advanced Chipset Features.
3. Go to CPU Configuration
4. Select C1E Enhanced Halt State and set it to Disabled
5. Press [F10] to save the changes and exit.

A very simple googling of the error code seems to give a lot of light oh the matter. Not sure what you have already tried, but figured i'd post what I saw.

My BIOS doesn't have that option in it. That was one of the first links I saw under google. I'm trying to find out if overheating could be a possible cause of it. I know most of the articles are saying it's the audio driver... but I've updated everything I have and am still getting this. My CPU is running bout 49 when using fsx and my gpu (EVGA GTS 250 1gb) runs at bout 62.

Logan those temps are nothing. That won't be the issue. Temps are only a worry when they start getting close to triple digits.

Yeah I just can't think of why else I would keep getting it. It's making mad though. It just randomly started happening too.

Logan the only thing I can suggest at this point, would be to disable your enhanced halt state/speedstep in your BIOS. That's more than likely the cause.
