Perhaps somebody will be able to help me out on this issue. My main PC (a laptop) has been out of commission for a while, due to a boot error. When I go to start up the PC, I get a "NTLDR is missing" error. PC spec's are: Dell 1520, Windows Vista Home Premium.

So far, in order to try to fix it I have:
1) Made a boot disk, which didn't help
2) Tried to do a Windows repair, which didn't help
3) Made a repair disk from a website which was designed to help with the error, which didn't help

Anyone else have an idea on how to fix the thing? Thanks for the help in advance.

Do you have an external hard drive plugged in? I had to fix this exact problem when I was working one day and all i had to do was on plug the external drive. It actually has nothing to do with window, it has to do with your MB boot sequence.

No external drive plugged in. Doesn't matter what order I set the boot sequence as either. Its quite frustrating, as I may end up having to just do a fresh install.

Don't fresh install, if it was software "Repair" should have fixed it. Have you made any changes to your computer and it started doing this after your change? Did you check to make sure the cable to the hard drive isn't loose?

Haven't changed anything in about 2 months, or roughly a month before it started happening. The repair option in the Windows Vista CD didn't help me out at all. All it say was that there was nothing wrong with the installation.
