Last night As I was about to do a flight on FS9 I got this error message during load up about some missing texture. So with time on my hands I did a full reinstall hoping everything will be back to normal. However when I try to load up FS9 , it looks like it is loading it up to the menu then suddenly it flickers and closes by itself. I did two reinstalls and it is still not loading up. Any ideas

You may need to buy an actual video card. However it seems like you're using a laptop? Not sure what the install process would be for a mobile chip.

Also, what was your uninstallation procedure for FS9?

I have been flying most of my flights on my laptop. And with 15-30 FPS it actually works good but I find it weird that right before I uninstall it was working perfectly. I uninstall from the control panel and on the second try from the FS9 folder in my programs

Had the same problem with my computer here. It's acheap little Compaq laptop we got from the local MegaLo Mart. One time I hit some glitch that made FS9 do what yours did. Finally, I did the uninstall fromt he control panel and aotherone from "My Computer" and then reloaded everything including a few add-ons I had. Then I did a hard boot and patiently waited for EVERYTHING to load. Then I started FS9 and it worked. When in doubt, reboot.

Try downloading and running Ccleaner (www.ccleaner.com) you may have some corrupted registry entries. If you still have the same problem, run check disk on your windows install and see if it finds any errors.

Guys, he was doing flights before on the same computer before this problem developed. So why are we suggesting to change the system.
OK, I get it. It will help him achieve a better and smooth flight, but the problem here and the symptoms are slightly different.

Gerhardt, if you happen do a further reinstall, make sure you delete the following folders and delete references of FS9 and FS2004 from the registry.
- FS9 Installation folder. The uninstaller will do this for you, but if leaves something behind, manually delete it.
- C:\Documents and Settings\<<username>>\Application Data\Microsoft\FS9
- Any add-on scenery files (Important, may not be inside FS9 folder directly)
- C:\Documents and Settings\<<username>>\My Documents\Flight Simulator Files (Backup this if you want)
- All registry references.

Reinstall and you should be good to go. I am assuming in all this that you have a perfectly working system and your graphics card hardware is OK and is with the latest recommended drivers.

To me it looks like that you installed and uninstalled (or manually deleted) a add-on and during the process, it deleted some shared files and FS now complains that it cannot find them. But only you can tell exactly what happened after which the problem appeared.

If all else fails, do a reformat (last option).

I reformatted my hard drive. Reinstalled Windows 7 and it worked fine. But I had to reinstall FS due to some installing SP1 after addons. Now its back to the samething it was doing before. This is making me very frusturated. All this started happening after I installed Active Sky can that be a problem.

If it is Active Sky Evolution .. it has a option of installing 'graphic snapshots'. Basically it will override your textures files with it's own. But whatever it does, it will give you a working system, whether you choose to install the snapshots or not. It does not partially overwrite nor delete any texture files midway, without informing.

There are many people here who are using Active Sky with FS9, so probability is less. But yes, it is a suspect, unless proven otherwise.
In Windows 7, there are many places where you have to 'Run as Administrator'. I am sure you would be using it, wherever needed.

Not too sure as to what is exactly wrong here. If I could get some log files or snapshots etc., that would have helped.

I am reformatting once again. This time I will install Flight Sim , restart,Install SP1 restart then install my remaining add on. Apparently this only happens during reinstalls.
