I was thinking about that, but it wouldn't be that hard for DVA to set up a VA for FsPassengers. And then people could fly with FSpass and upload the flights to the Web site. I mean just a thought, and not sure if there might already be one.

You can use FSPax all you want now....you want a whole new VA just for FSPax?

We've considered it, but ACARS provides far more data than FSPax.

Cheers!

Well, no, I am not saying starting a whole new VA. And I am not saying use FsPass instead of the ACARS. What I am saying, is allowing us to upload our FSPass flights to DVA, and then you will have a page on the site here, with something similar to this:
http://www.fsp.hawkflyers.com/fsplistflight.php
I don't know. Then I won't have to upload all my flights to there. It isn't like it is important. Just a thought.

Gari,

What Luke is saying - ACARS provides more information and has more capabilities on tracking flights than FSPax...

If your FS crashes while using FSPax , when you restart you lose all your data, where as with ACARS, you restore and continue the flight rather than having to do a 14hour flight all over again..

Hope that helps

Gari,

Use FSPax copy and past the flight report into the comments of you ACARS report and submit it. I have a few guys who do and frankly I like reading the FSPax reports.

maybe you are on to something tho.. just backwards.

what if ACARS HAD FSpassengers in it? the display.. the whole if you land rough you get passenger dissatisfaction etc.. loading passengers.. generating money for DVA.. getting a salary.. rating the flight..

might be more realism than people want (not me mind you.. but some people)

hmmm..

I had discussed the salary part before but got turned down on the idea.

Although integrating or creating something similiar with DVA ACARS would be something... plotting
Just like in the settings, possibly the pilot could check off that realism if he didn't want it?

We face two challenges - the biggest one is that there's only so much of me to go around, and I'm rather busy with ACARS3 and helping Scott and Ken with some upcoming changes to the Flight Academy and our promotions policy.

The other part is more philosophical. We've always been very leery of adding quantitative measures to allow members to "compete" based on qunatitative metrics. Salary, revenue and operating expenses are the kind of quantitative measures that we've tried to stay away from, in favor of different quantitative metrics like landing rate, distance from runway threshold, that sort of thing. The experience I've had, and what higher-time pilots seem to notice, is that after a few dozen (or hundred) flights the quantitative metrics don't matter so much any more - it's more a matter of finding new challenges, new experience and fun things to renew your hobby, rather than turning X into X+Y.

Cheers!

Luke is very correct. If you want to add your FSP "comments" I'll read them when approving your flight (if your in a 767) but I will not "grade" you on what FSP reports. Check my logbook, started doing just the same recently. Had one "horrible" flight with FSP recently all due to factors completely out of my control during a group event. The long holds, guessing at a flight length for a group flight, etc all played part. Was one of my best landings ever however! Total visual, no-ILS hand flew her in from about 3000' Also I had to make a right turn "expeditiously" at 3000' to avoid an "aluminum shower" thanks to some overloaded ATC (that caught it at about 2nm) with one of our great guys here at DVA. FSP did not notice that but did notice I was "late" and they had to "wait on the ground" for too long getting out of KATL.....hehe I did to!!

I think he wants a flight comment system like, unstable approach, overspeed, landing too right of centerline, excessive takeoff pitch, etc. Not sure if that what he basically is asking

I'm glad for the philosophical approach you've taken, this VA is the most balanced
one in existence that I am aware of. FSPax can be fun, but also can be a pain, I would
not impose it on any one. Also, I have been in VA's that have salary and frankly I could
never understand the point, there is never anything to do with it anyway smile The only
place where the monetary thing has made sense is Flight Sim Economy, but that's a
completely different kettle of fish.

I know it is a tightrope to walk, making it fun for people with different goals and ambitions,
Luke and others making the choices have done such a great job, I applaud you all and
wish you continued success.
