Would it be possible to have someone be an addon review here at DVA?

We get alot of threads with people asking if a certain addon is good to purchase.
Sort of like what FSW has only no more reviews have been added to their site.

Hopefully this would make it easier for people to decide on buying addons. The reviewer could also have a section where it could explain how buying the addon would benefit them in their flying here at DVA and possible a performance scale.

(E.g. KATL Scenery, DVA fly's to KATL frequently and many events are held there.)
(E.g. FPS Friendly rating = 10 (10 Being least FPS hit or none at all)
(E.g. Panel detail rating = 5 (Descent quality)

Etc.

Just a thought. What do you guys think? smile

Sounds like a good idea ...but doing a google search and/or AVSIM search will also get you a review of just about every popular addon out there.

My .02 cents.

As Andy said, and provided the links to, there are a couple of standard places (including DVA web resources) where you can look at user community ratings of aircrafts. These ratings are derived from sales (or download) volumes and last of all, how much people talk about it in user forums etc.

A lot of this information is available in standard websites and through the years have become standard sources of information.
Collection and processing of this information takes a lot of effort and only after that and presenting it in a easy to consume format, can this information become reliable.

I do not see DVA to duplicate the effort and also not be a sales shop where recommending one product over another. I know we as user community do that, but that's on a informal and a personal basis. Formalizing it and publishing this information will in my opinion be against the free spirit DVA advocates.

There is no such thing as the 'DVA perspective', we are just a micro cross section of the real world.
Some people here LOVE a piece of payware, others HATE it just as much. So just because an
internal individual did the review would not eliminate the burden on the interested party in having
to research, weigh the pros and cons, and make a rational decision for themselves.

People are always looking for someone to tell them what to do, this is a good place to learn
that in life you never can really escape the responsibility to make decisions and live with the
consequences in your life.
