Perhaps funny, perhaps not, only those here can say...
How about adding an area to the pilot center where pilots can input a list of email addresses. When the pilot signs up for an online event, the DVA site would send out an email some xxx hours in advance stating:
- - - - -
You are receiving this email from www.deltava.org to inform you that PILOT NAME has signed up for, and will be participating in an online flying event for Delta Virtual Airlines between the hours of hh:mm and hh:mm CST.
PILOT NAME has selected you to receive this message since they, under penalty of serious bodily harm to you, do not wish to be disturbed during this time (or want you to fly as copilot, you take your chance guessing).
If you wish to Unsubscribe from this notification, click here. Note that in doing so, you run the risk of running afoul PILOT NAME during a stressful flight and hereby release DVA, it's affiliates, members, subcontractors, spouses, children and associated pets from prosecution should serious bodily harm occur to your person if you interrupt PILOT NAME's flight.
Sincerely,
DVA

As far as I know we already have it - and it's an option you can turn on or off in the pilot center profile. I always get an email reminding me about online events.

Yes, I get those too, but this would be an area to input email addresses Other Than Yourself informing friends, family and others that you are scheduled for an event and not to bug ya. As it stands, I try and sign up for events about a week out if they are available and then email those time and dates to those that visit often so they know not to expect dinner and a movie during those times

I get what you are saying Terry. Some type of "form letter" from DVA advising about your trip.
I doubt this will work because I know we do NOT send out emails to non-DVA members. Some may take this as rude or an invasion of privacy to some extent.
I see exactly what you are saying though and maybe you should consider sending out the email to family/friends from your email instead of these folks getting it from DVA internally.
I'm sure Terry or someone can advise of our policy however in regards to emails being sent to non-DVA members from DVA. I would seriously doubt we could do that due to infringement of our "do not disturb non-dva persons with dva email". Like I said Terry can explain this better than the layman's term I just used! LOL

Chuck, I agree with not disturbing non-DVA members with emails from DVA. In theory, it's still a fun idea to tinker with.

Yes it is, maybe you should come up with your own "form" email and just create another free email account somewhere to send them out from. And maybe you could get some family/friends involved with flight simulation.

I don't mean to hijack but what if we used iCal or CalDAV so you could subscribe to the event schedule, and maybe receive invitations through your calendar program. Lemme know what you think.
