So as the title says I just found this out today but when my LCD is on a black background a blue haze shows up at the bottom of my screen.

It's highly noticeable. I don't believe a screenshot would show it.
Is there any way to fix this? I wouldn't want to have to buy a new monitor.

Could it be just dust that's being illuminated and projected onto the screen?

I think what you are seeing is the light "bleeding" through from the back of the panel. It's pretty normal on LCD screens. It shows up more on lower end LCD's where the screen isn't great at reproducing black.

I had this same issue with one of my monitors when using a VGA cable. The fix was pretty easy, use a DVI cable instead. smile

If that's possible, it might fix your problem.

Hmm my monitor is a VGA only it's a Dell, its running at 1366x768x32.

On my video card I'm using a VGA adapter.
I guess it would seem normal...

I have 1 year limited warranty on the monitor with Best Buy, would it be wise to go replace it?

The box also says Contrast Ratio is 1000:1

the contrast ratio is not that high, though it doesn't really mean much. most manufactures fudge this number anyway. as stated above, the haze is likely the bleed through from the backlit portion. if possible you can try changing your color temperature, which may change that haze.

as for returning it, i'd wait till the end of the warranty, then return it.
