Hey all.. It's been about 10 months or so since I was active due to a move and other reasons including financial.. But I'm back now with a fresh OS. I now have windows 7 and am getting pretty used to it but still have'nt installed anything to my sim. I was using XP and have already noticed a huge difference in performance. I have my sliders cranked and it's as smooth as glass. But I have'nt added any addons yet. Does ACARS and WOAI work ok with windows 7? I have installed sp1 and sp2 and made one small tweak to fsx.cfg but that's it.. I want everything to be clean and don't want to mess anything up as I get everything up and running again.. Thanks for any help or suggestions..

Thanks guys.. Anyone know why windows 7 won't let me change the aircraft.cfg? Don't know 7 very well yet.. lol.

Always remember to run everything "as administrator" using Vista or Win7. As far as right clicking on everything and selecting "run as administrator". My only real knock on Win now. You'll avoid unknown errors and problems by doing so.

I guess I'm missing something.. When I open "aircraft.cfg" it does'nt ask me to open as administrator. I don't see anything about administrator durring the whole process. I copy and paste the text for the new texture variant into the cfg file and when I go to close it it says.. aircraft.cft already exists do you want to replace it? and when I click on ok it says "access is denied".. What am I missing here?

On Windows 7 you probably don't want to install FS9 or FSX under C:\Program Files.

Really? I already did.. But if I have to change it I guess I can cuz I've only added sp1 and sp2 and made one little tweak to fsx.cfg.. Where do you recommend I install it? Used to installing everything in program files on XP.. frown

Ok guys.. I don't have to reinstall FSX.. It's ok in programs. I just had to grant myself full permission to change files or folders in FSX.. Kind of a pain but now I can do whatever I want to in FSX but only FSX.. Not a bad idea they had with 7 just had to figure it out.. Thanks for your help all. Now I gotta get busy installing ACARS and WOAI so I can get flyin.. WooHoo..!! FSX works alot better in 7 also.. I have my sliders cranked and it's smooth. We'll see what happens when I get all of the WOAI files installed.. lol.
