I never make suggestions to well established protocols...especially in companies that have been around as long as DVA...But I thought I'd give it a try...just this one time...
I always use a "payware" version of any aircraft I fly...mostly because the FMC and autopilot functions are usually very close to RW fidelity...and so my proceedures are also closer to RW...
I was just wondering if it would be possible for the "powers that be" to "pre-install" VasFMC.?...the freeware version of an FMC...into all the fleet aircraft models...it certainly would be an excellent way to "nudge" pilots towards more realism...
I'm not suggesting you remove the GPS system we all know and love...
It would just provide a "option" for DVA pilots to "upgrade" to more of a RW navigation system...and add to there knowledge base and enjoyment...
Yes I know they could possibly do it themselves...but It sure would be easier if everything they needed was already installed...
I'm sure I'm not the first person to suggest this...so I am sure there is a perfectly good reason why it hasn't been implemented...
Just thought I'd ask...

Didnt know you could install VASFmc into specific planes. I have that program and I can use it in anyplane I want. Isnt that how that program works?

I wasn't aware it worked that way...I must be confusing it with a payware program...
I knew I shouldn't have made any suggestions...
Never mind...

VasFMC can be used for any aircraft. VFMC2 has been out for about a year now and is much improved over the old version. And yes, you can install the VAS panels into any plane.

my take on vasFMC is that it was made to integrate well into Project Airbus planes. It doesn't integrate well into anything else, or at least I haven't been able to get it to do so. However, it flies the plan just fine if you like your FMC running as a separate program in the background.

Agree that vasFMC is way to go for those that don't have it in their aircraft. I didn't discover FMC until I had my first payware and was sort of forced into learning it. No point in being forced; it is more flexible than the GPS (especially when ATC changes my well laid plans.) I love it when ATC wants to change my arrival - no problem - "lay it on me" (ok, not exact phraseology). The workload is greatly reduced giving us more time for steep turns, power-off stalls, crazy eights, and "...bet I can land and make that first taxiway" .....oops, wait a minute...I'm getting my planes confused. Time to go out to the airport for a sanity check.
