I am a new to flying virtual airlines. After installing FSX on my Windows 7 64bit machine, I was not having any issues. I installed squawkbox 4 and that is when I started seeing problems. It took much longer for fsx to load, but the biggest issue is when I try to use squawkbox. I am trying to make my first flight and I get squawkbox started and start the flight. I normally don't get that far when fsx will freeze and then nothing else happens. I have tried reinstalling it, making sure I have the newest version. I do get to where I am chatting with ATC, but then the program freezes. Also, I have tried starting squawkbox before and while in FSX.

Any help would be appreciated.

Hi Michael.. I believe if you're using FSInn or Squak Box you have to run your sim in windowed mode to make things work right. Not sure what the difference is or why it works but that's one thing that you need to make sure you're doing. Someone else might have other ideas to help you out but that's all I can think of at the moment. Also you know that with windows 7 you have to run everything as "administrator" right? For some reason some things don't work properly if you don't run them as administrator. Hope this helped some..

Cheers..

I found a working solution here: http://forums.vatsim.net/viewtopic.php?f=39&t=36839&start=45

"First of all, make sure your FSX is set in "run this program as administratror"

second of all, make sure that FSX version of SB4 is set in the same way as above

Third of all, start FSX

Fourth of all, go to file directory and find to doubleclick on SB4 FSX version, NOT FS2004/2002. This will start and open SB4 as separate program. Wait few moments. Then exit from SB4 and close it. Then use fsx module on FSX window to start SB4 which will show up inside FSX

That will run smoothly without problems.

You may experience rare occassion of C++ error message. What you should do is FIRST save the flight by pressing ";" button. Then click cancel on that error message. FSX will resume the flight. If not, you can restart FSX and go back to saved flight to continue the flight and relog into SB4. The C++ error message usually happens when other Vatsim pilot or ATC tries to contact you via private message."

So far, so good for me.

That did not work for me because when I load SB4 my whole desktop crashes and I have to shut it off manually. Using Windows7 64bit asus gaming laptop.
