Hey all.. I was talking tech with a friend of mine last night and was telling him about my windows 7, 32 bit OS not recognizing my 4GB of RAM, (my system only recognizes 2.75 GB of the 4 GB of RAM) and he told me that you can plug, say a 4 gig flashdrive, into a USB port and then go into the system and find the drive and specify it to be used as RAM. Does anyone here know if this is true and really works? Not that I'm doubting my friend but I've never heard of this before and if it's true I think it would probably really help my performance when using FSX.. Any comments from you computer tech guys would be greatly appreciated.. He tells me that with a 4 GB flashdrive plus the 2.75 GB that's already recognized it would be like having 6.75 GB of ram.

Dale,
Yes, i believe you can, the application is called "Ready Boost" and not all usb flashdrives will be fast enough to work with it. To find out, go to Computer, then properties of the flash drive. there should be a tab that
says Ready Boost
Good luck!

Well two things...

1) You have a 32bit OS, that means you can only use a maximum of about 3GB. To use 4GB or more, you need to get the 64bit version.

2) I heard in Telecom class at college, that using a flash memory as RAM is not efficient, it could slow down your PC. Yes, it's possible, but it's just cheaper to buy another stick of RAM.

Thanks guys.. I'm thinking pretty seriously about upgrading to the 64 bit version of windows 7 ultimate on Monday so that way I'll be able to add more RAM and have be usable.
