I know this has been beat to death in other posts, but I am trying to get this straight in my mind. I haven't flown in a very long time and would like to eventually fly online using VATSIM. I will be using a desktop for FS9/FSX but an older laptop for ACARS, Squawkbox and any other addons that may come along. Is it my understanding that for FS9, I will need the registered version of FSUIPC for this setup to work properly? Is FSUIPC even required for FSX as it is my understanding it uses SIMCONNECT.

Although I am very computer literate, my flight sim knowledge has leaked out over the years. Thanks for your assistance in advance.
