Hello gentlemen

I recently installed addons (B757 Qualitysim and KJFK FSdream) with the version 9.0 of Flight Simulator 2004. Normally these addons can't be installed with the FS9.0 version but only with the FS9.1 version.

I downloaded a little free software (FS9.1 virtual update) developped by a very promising french group AirTimSimulation (http://www.airtimsimulation.free.fr/). The software can be downloaded here : http://www.airtimsimulation.free.fr/projets.php

This soft doesn't install the patch FS9.1 but install some files (.dll, .exe, ...) detected by the addons. However i encountered a problem, my addons didn't want to be installed even with the virtual patch. To solve the problem, i changed manually into the MODULES repertory of FS9 the G3D.dll (FS9.0) by the G3D.dll (FS9.1). After this manipulation, my addons have been installed.

It's important to notify that the virtual patch can be removed easy by the uninstall.exe and the initial files (from FS9.0) will be restored.

I hope that this little experience could be other pilots

P.S : An update of FS9.1 virtual update is under development.

I'm curious why you don't just use the 9.1 update from Microsoft. If I recall it did solve some issues as well as added a few missing features.

Because i installed a lot of addons and Microsoft advices to install the patch when FS9 is empty because the patch replaces a lot of files.

That may be a cautionary statement on their part. I installed the 9.1 patch months ago (and I have several hundred dollars worh of FS9 add-ons). Did not change a thing other than to allow me to use the add-ons that require it.
