i use to fly 747-400 with PMDG, FSX, Windows 7. i would like to know for the solution about some issues facing now. first one is i use FMC to fly a course. ex. LFPG - EGGS. i programmed FMC with SID and STAR. now the issue is if the ATC ask me to change the RWY and SID entire FMC route i should change? if no, how i can replace that SID in FMC? other one is if ATC advice me to fly to any other STAR or changing of HDG due to the other traffic, how i can disconnect FMC and use autopilot only? if i disconnect FMC it is possible to connect it again from my current position where i am ? do FMC go back to the waypoints that passed ? it will be highly appreciated, if anyone can help with the right guidance, step by step as i am very new in FMC and PMDG

1. Just select a new SID/STAR/RWY - FMC will make the changes - you can check it for accuracy before you select execute.
2. LNAV button follows the FMC. Push the LNAV button so light goes out. Then you can click the center button for the heading bug, and dial in you new headings.
3. You can start using the FMC again, by pushing the LNAV button, you might have to fly an intercept course to one of the legs in the fp. I do believe you have to delete the waypoints that are behind you. The FMC is going to want to take you to the first waypoint in its list on the Legs page.

There may be alternative answers to exactly how you do things with FMC, but this is how I do it.

Better than deleting the previous waypoints, you can just select the waypoint you want to go to regardless fo how far down the legs page it is and then you clcik the line that has the waypoint so that the waypoint comes up in the bottom of the fmc. Next just go to the beginning of the legs page and insert at the first waypoint on pg 1. Then your route should start from the waypoint u replaced and continue as usual.

To fly a heading given by ATC,just set the desired HDG on MCP and push SEL. If ATC later clear you for a waypoint, just plot it in on the top in LEGS page in CDU.
Delete whatever is neccessary in LEGS page with either methods described by Scott or Neil.
In the PMDG 747 you can also program 2 seperate routes, and change between them. This can be helpful if you want to have to arrival routes,
or program route to an alternate.
