Hey guys! I wanna upgrade my core2 (crap) duo E8600 to something that handle FSX without going to 90+ % of CPU usage wich is what i have now. I have a tight budget can spend at most $300
any ideas? Also Ive heard that the core 2 quad is neck and neck with the I7 950 and Im not sure if i have to buy a new mobo for the i7 because i really dont want to frown If anyone can help... please tell me if i can get an i7 with this mobo that i have: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128348

The E8600 is an LGA 775 socket type so if you do not or can't buy another mobo then your options are very, very limited. The next two best 775 CPU's are >$300. So, to answer your question, no, you can not install an i7 CPU on that mobo.

That would work just fine ....4 cores as opposed to 2.

I'd update your BIOS too prior to installing your new CPU.

Thanks Mike! after i got my new videocard i noticed that FSX bareley uses graphics! i can max it out and my card temprature maxes out at 48c wich is nothing! But of corse i didnt buy it for just FSX its kinda weird how FSX just relies on CPU rather than video...
I need to read more reviews before I choose. Not really sure if i should spend more on an i7 compatible motherboard and get an i7 950 or something. But thanks anyways!

When I run a diagnostic test I get a subscore of 5.9 for claculations per minute. I am trying to maximize it's performance cuz FSC is very jittering. I currently have the NVIDIA GEFORCE GTX 460 graphics card and whe I maz out my setting s on FSX, my memory usage runs about 36% SO i think my CPU needs tweeking. Any suggestions?
