I'm pretty computer savvy all around .... but I have a question that is probably for someone who really knows the idiosyncrasy of PCI-E bus's, CPU data flows, etc., etc.

I'm just starting to put together a new system centered around a P67 mobo and i7-2600K processor with probably 12Gs of RAM (I'd like to get Intel's 6 core but at ~$1K no way). My question is, what would be my most bang for my buck...sort of a cost to benefit analysis here...one real high end card or two lesser cards in SLI? .....I'm thinking frame rates here, maximum scenery and all. I want all settings maxed, all the time.

So for you guys that know systems down to their resistors & capacitors what are your thoughts? ....need more info from me?, just ask cool

FSX has never been known to scale well to SLI, and there are some instability caveats to boot. Are you going to be gaming outside of FSX?

Definitely get an NVIDIA card over an ATI. They are much better for FS. I just bought an EVGA GTX 570 today for only $380. It runs FSX like a beast. I recommend this card to anyone running FSX. (or FS9 of course)

I would go for the single best card, in that case. Remember, too, that single GPU cards do better with FSX for whatever reason. To future proof, I might say something different, but the 580 is looking like a beast for FSX.

Michael if you are only running FSX(FS9), go the single card route and put the difference in either CPU or SSD. They will make more difference than SLI anyday. I vote for staying with nvidia also.
