I am going to get a new computer, and someone recommended building one. Would these parts fit together? Am I missing any parts that I would need?

I don't know much about computers, so these might not work together, or be good for fsx

Elise, it all looks good apart from the Motherboard, you need to look for a motherboard that supports the Intel i7 Socket 1155, the motherboard you posted is for a totally different processor brand smile

+1 with Rob, that mobo wont work for that intel chip, plus to be honest your not going to get a decent motherboard for under 80 bucks. A few things I would change on that setup..... first the MOBO...

I would go with something along these lines..
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131634

For the Ram, get two of those kits, I have the same exact ram, works great and its on sale right now. The power supply, funny you decided on that one, I too just ordered that exact powersupply, should work great in your system, and its fairly reasonably priced.

The Graphics card, you mentioned in acars that this is going to be your Flight sim computer.... my opinion, stay away from ATi for flight simming. I had a XFX HD5870 in this system that didnt perform well compared to other NVIDIA based cards, with that said I sold the card recently on Ebay and picked up a GTX 460, some of the nicer ones out there for the best bang for your buck are the 400 series cards...

http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=ENE&N=100007709%20600030348%20600007323&IsNodeId=1&name=GeForce%20GTX%20400%20series

you could go for the more expensive 500 series cards but your going to pay extra to be the first kid on the block to have it, thats just how it works, if you want one of those 500 series cards, be prepared to spend in upwards of 350 dollars for a half way decent one.

The hard drive you picked out, your on the right track with getting a 1TB of storage space, but that ones a little overkill. First off it is an external hard drive, you want an internal one. and second, do you really need a hard drive dock? are you planning on swapping drives out often? save yourself some money and look at this....

Or...... you would be better off with a Solid State HD for your operating system and a Raptor drive for your flight sim. or two solid state har drives, one for fs and one for the OS, but thats some serious cash.

Also you want to get Windows 7 64 bit as your OS. Any other questions I would love to help. Like I told you before, build it yourself, as you can see your system is already 10 times better then the system you picked "off the shelf" and its half the price.

Thanks Michael! I'm going to talk to my dad today, and hope that I won't have to pay too much myself. I looks really nice. Is the case that I got a good one, or do I need to pick another one? Do they come with cooling?

ok sorry about my mix up but that board I posted wouldnt work with your chip you need a socket 1155, not 1156....

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131681

also save a few bucks and go with the other i7.... same speeds, less money
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819115071

as for the case, other then it being so "bright" it looks like it would work....its going to be LOUD with all those fans, plus alot of fans isnt always a good thing, you can have all the fans in the world blowing into the box, but if there is no way for that air to escape, it does no good. I have had this case since it came out and it has worked very well for me, not loud at all either and plenty of room for all my drives....

Elise also look into liquid cooled cases. The cooler the processor is the better it will run
