I am really interested in getting an updated computer. This new cpu from intel the i7 2600k is reported to be better than the i7 980. 4.8ghz over clocked with little more than a stock fan, and As I understand it also has video drivers built into the cpu. Prices are very low. So is this i7 2600k overkill for fsx? can we get everything out of fsx with the i5 sandy bridge? those of you who have it please let us know. Thanks

That explains the prices being so low. I think i may still get one. as the article states that it takes awhile for the chip to break down. Not much effort is needed to replace a cpu. When the updated cpus come out ill just pick another up pop it in. Ive been watching a few videos on Youtube , the graphics are out of this world on an i5 2400 cant imagine what an i7 is able to produce. intels new cpus will be of comparable design to the sandy bridge. ill just be in a position to upgrade later. by time this latest chip starts giving me trouble the next "best" thing will be out. Intel is supposed to make good with the recall, most likley a free replacement. buying computer upgrades is like the weather if you dont like what you have today wait until tommorrow. everything is outdated two weeks after it comes out.

I've got probably one of the last i7-2600k's / P67 mobo's shipped before the recall was issues (in fact, it is still in transit scheduled to be delivered tomorrow). The recall doesn't seem like too big of a deal to me and it sounds like Intel is going to make good on replacing affected parts. Despite, I'm anxious to see what sort of performance I get out of it. smile

EDIT: Newegg has pulled both the processor and the P67 motherboards off of its site, so I'm not sure where this leaves me...

Yeah. REX, UTX, GEX, PMDG aircraft, basically. ORBX for the NW and UT2 for traffic.

If Newegg issued a UPS tracking number then the parts are likely on the way. I too am in the middle of building a system. I hoped to have completed it this month....I guess sometime in April is my new goal.
