Whenever I download something, especially something that should come in a compressed folder, it comes in an Internet Explorer file, and when I open it, it opens maybe 10 or 15 IE windows that can't be closed unless I take the battery out of my laptop. I downloaded BitZipper for free, but the 30 day trial is up, and I need a solution to this problem.
Why are these files not downloading as compressed folders?

I am using Chrome, and the problem still exists. Chrome is the only browser I use.

try updating Chrome or something. I normally use IE8 and recently tried out Google Chrome and i love it except for the downloads.
Whenever i have to download something i use IE8

I'm using IE8 and don't have this problem. I also use the internal zip functionality within Windows.

I agree with Alan, the internal zip with windows 7 is the best one out there.....and it's free!

Try using IE8 until you get your Chrome issues sorted out. I downloaded the exact file you are trying to download last night and had zero issues. My FSX is screaming now by the way with that frame limiter dll and cfg install. Thanks Mark and Bryan!!!

The reason you have a problem is the program that is set up as 'default' for these
compressed zip files is apparently IE (yuck :))

So, apart from installing an alternative you need to go into the "Default Programs"
panel and get rid of this unfortunate default.

That's the problem, I can't unzip anything because there is nothing to unzip.

Set it to the program with which you open ZIP files. I use Winrar, but there are many alternatives out there. Winzip also works.
