Ok, for some reason today, in FS9, my joystick is not working. I have a saitek joystick. If I go to Options->Controls; it shows that the joystick is connected, but in the simulator, it just does not work. Nothing works with the joystick. Any help?

If it is a USB connection check the driver and look for power saver, make sure it is not enabled. Some USB devices turn themselves off after a couple of minutes of non use and then you cannot get them back on without rebooting (at least this old guy doesnt know how to.

Where do I go to find the USB driver in order to check to see if the power saver is Off? It's weird. In FS9, once I go to Options->Controls, I am able to Disable Joystick.. Once I do that, my throttle in FS9 increases for some odd reason. I think the computer recognizes that there is a joystick, but I do not know why I can not fly with it. I flew all last week and even on Saturday; but yesterday it stopped working properly.

If it occurs in flight and it is a power managment issue, just unplug it, wait about 10 seconds and plug it back in. If you see a message something like "found new hardware, installing driver etcetc" it is the power managment issue. Not sure which operating system you are using but basically: left click on the windows logo at the left bottom of your display, left click on the entry that says computer in the dark grey column on the right side, click on the tab "system properties", click on "device manager", somewhere near the bottom of the list should be "USB" devices, find the one for your joystick click on it, find the tab across the top (mine is the far right" "power management" click on it, ensure the box "turn off when idle" is not checked. Your joystick may be listed somewhere else perhaps as "joystick" or "human interface devices" rather than a usb device. I know how frustrating it is when thses things happen. It is usually due to the install program being written for XP or older operating systems. Good luck!
